I have been a musician/songwriter since I was about 13. I studied classical music and was a cello major for 1 year (1972-73) at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. I was offered a scholarship by my University instructor , Talmon Herz, to study cello at a music school in Germany ( he never did tell me the name of the school). Mr. Herz was the principal cellist for the Calgary symphony at the time (1973) and used to study every summer with Mtslav Rostropovich in Russia. Before and after that I played in different rock bands including one called "Spunk" with Mike Reno of Loverboy for about 5 years. Mike and I co-wrote songs with one of the guitar players, Craig Blair who also played with the "49th Parallel", famous for their 70s hit "West Coast Woman". We were pretty much at the top of the rock club scene in Calgary, Alberta at the time. The bands I was in in Canada, Spunk and Brick Shiphouse, warmed up for Rush, Kiss, Kansas, Styx, ZZ Top to name a few.

I studied at the Music Business Institute in Atlanta, was awarded "best mix" in my class by the audio engineering teacher from a class studio recording project in 1986, and graduated in Dec.. In Atlanta, I did some recording and analog studio work, and played with a couple of bands including one with Phil Dix, the guitar player from Humble Pie, (the Atlanta years circa 1983-84).
I love most rock, pop, classical and theater.

I produced a full length CD and a demo (Aug. 06) for a Kenosha, WI based female singer/songwriter, Lauren Noelle (www.lauren-noelle.com) and a demo for a hard rock band, Avedis (www.avedislive.com)(July 07) also from Kenosha. I have co-written a song with Avedis. Both of these acts also have their own page on my web site: www.russellcreations.com

Presently, I have certification in Studio Production from Berklee College and plan on continuing to write and produce. My main instrument is bass (Geddy Lee signature Fender Jazz), although I play electric and acoustic guitar and cello. I've always been a vocalist and vocal arranger.
I have 4 children. One of my daughters, Chandra, living in Vancouver, BC, is a singer/songwriter playing in the "Longriders" band, and once sang the national anthem to open a Calgary Flames home game.
I am striving for a publishing deal as I think my writing has reached a good level. I presently live in Kenosha, WI and my office is in Gurnee, IL. I am a member of WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) and work with a local Kenosha recording studio, Renwood Messenger, that won best studio 3 years in a row from WAMI.
