Bio
Rufus is an independent artist using hip hop to raise mental health awareness and inspire other with his story. At Howard University, he fell in love with hip hop and the therapeutic experience of expressing himself in rhyme. He released his first album in 2012 called The Anagnorisis, vol.1. Anagnorisis is a Greek term for the moment you find your true self. The cathartic experience he had documenting his thoughts and feelings over music during this period of time sent him down a path of improving his mental health. Over the next 4 years he founded the Student Music Firm and executively produced 3 albums featuring Memphis youth. Late in 2017, Rufus released his another 2 albums, The Anagnorisis, Vol 2 and Alternate Path. After such a great response, he chose to step down from his teaching job to pursue his mental health awareness mission on an even bigger platform through his personal music career.
