Bio

What started as an instrumental duo in the year 2000 has ten years later become an internationally known quartet that not only has received sensational press within the prog rock scene for breathing fresh air into the genre but also managed to get fans from very different musical communities. Perhaps playing the debut gig at an illegal punk rock club in Stockholm set the standards as GBS as of 2010 have played shows at indie festivals, hipster clubs, in front of sitting prog rock audiences and more.

After the release of the critically acclaimed debut album, Einar Baldursson joined the band which gave birth to a new musical direction; a darker and more dissonant one, while still keeping the strong melodies that the band is known for. The release of Detta Har Hänt during summer 2009 showed that instrumental rock can be both interesting and find a wider audience as the Swedish national radio (Sveriges Radio) heard the album and aired a one hour feature with a lengthy interview as well as five songs off the album.

The above proved to be the beginning for the band's exposure on radio as GBS were invited by Sveriges Radio to play before an exponentially lyrical audience at the Eurosonic festival in Groningen, NL. The concert was recorded and later broadcasted on radio as well. To top GBS's relation with SR, Detta Har Hänt was nominated for the best Rock/Metal album of 2009 - a nomination previously given to great Swedish bands such as Opeth, In Flames and more.

As of spring and summer 2010, GBS will be writing new material for the third album and playing selected festivals in Europe. A prestigious show in the US during 2011 have also been confirmed.
