Lyrics

In This City

Written By: Grace Askew

VERSE 1
keeping wide awake after a long ride,
i become eveloped by noises and lights
they enter my soul with such vivacity
that i try to run along with it,
but first i gotta hail a taxi

VERSE 2
keeping wide awake after a long ride,
trying to absorb all the blurry scenes
and all that this ride brings me
through the flashiness, gaudiness,
i try to find some temperance

CHORUS
i think i lived here in my past life,
maybe on a musty park bench, or in a swanky high rise
either way it's all the same,
my life would be fanciful in every way
...i know why this feelin' arose in my soul
--- it feels like home... in this city, in this city -- it feels like home

VERSE 3
The people, the sites, the sounds,
all elegantly whirling 'round'n'round'n'round
everybody told me it would be too much,
but every ebb and flow here makes me feel more.....in touch

CHORUS
i think i lived here in my past life,
maybe on a musty park bench, or in a swanky high rise
either way it's all the same,
my life would be fanciful in every way
...i know why this feelin' arose in my soul
--- it feels like home... in this city, in this city -- it feels like home

....i now know that the streets can soothe my soul

Next To Me

Written By: Grace Askew

Sing me a sweet, sad song,
Hold me in your golden arms
Oh, Just look through me some more
…Just don’t let go in the middle of a storm

I know, I know, I know,
That I can be aloof,
Those looks you give me, baby, baby, baby
Are living proof

So come on, come on, baby,
Rewind things a bit,
and open that heart for me a little… right quick

CHORUS:
Oh, you can be so grand,
But only when you’ve opened your little hands,
So reach up to the sky and open your little eyes to see what you can see,
When you are standin’…. Next to me

Your smile reaches inside of me,
With unspoken words,
You make my heart sing,
Unknowingly, baby, baby, baby
You shake me down to my very bones in all your glory

CHORUS
