Biography

Everything that you hear is GRACE-C! She does it all, from the songwriting, to the composing. From producing the tracks, arranging and singing all of the lead and background vocals, to the engineering, editing and mixing of the song! Hence the reason for her debut album entitled “This is Me” ©2010. Literacy of many skills is something Grace-C prides herself on and that knowledge is what also what sets her apart from the norm.
Born May 29th 1988 to Chaplain (COL) Clarke L. McGriff and Susan J. McGriff, Grace-C is the only girl and the youngest of four. She recalls her life always having involved music. Since a young age Grace-C knew that music is where her passion was, and she began creating and writing her own music at the tender age of 10!
As a songwriter/singer/producer/vocal arranger/ dancer/ actress, Grace-C is an overall performer. She intends to use all of the talents that God has graciously blessed her with to do whatever His will may be for her life. She is very excited to see just what God has in store for her life. Grace-C understands that you need more than just talent to succeed in this tough music industry, and now at the age of 23 she is also a business-minded woman.
On May 8, 2010, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology after her tenure at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, F.L. She didn’t stop there; Grace-C is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Entertainment Business from the Award winning Full Sail University. She anticipates that this degree will help ensure that she is well prepared for whatever she may encounter within her aspiring career in the music industry upon graduation.
Grace-C plans on using her gifts and wants to become a successful songwriter. She says, “The worst thing in life would be waking up everyday for the rest of your days and dread going to your job. You have to have passion behind your work, or you are bound to be miserable.” “I dream of doing what I love, and getting paid to do it!” With that said Grace-C is known for jokingly using a saying, that she hopes to actually live by one day, “checks in the mail, checks in the mail!” Grace-C would also like to eventually establish a business and be the CEO, AKA “Boss Lady” of her very own music corporation in hopes to provide an opportunity for others to fulfill their musical dreams, after she has fulfilled some of hers.
She was born into a military family that moved often, and she has literally seen the world in her short years. In turn Grace-C’s entire life has been surrounded by music of immensely different genres, and her musical style exudes that variety with an emphasis in the pop music genre. She takes pride on having a diverse background and past as well as an open-mindedness on her list of personal characteristics. She would like to thank first and foremost God! Also her family and friends for their love, strength and continuous support, in helping her make it to this point thus far. To God be ALL the Glory!

Lyrics

Make up Your Mind

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:
It’s kind of scary, something like a mystery, except it’s you and me, I’m not quite sure what’s happening,
One moment we’re so close, the next, I don’t know who you are.
It’s like you have a case, of schizophrenia, but I’m so into ya, and all I want is your love,
If you could make up your mind, I’d gladly give you my heart, but;
Chorus:
You’re in my life one minute and the next you’re not,
You said you knew my birthday, when it came, you forgot
I’m stuck in the middle of your switchin’, trippin’, baby just make up your mind.
Your words say you love me, actions they say otherwise
You have the lowest lows, but the highest highs
I’m stuck in the middle of your switchin’, trippin’, baby just make up your mind.
Verse 2:
You’re sending me cute messages all day long, but when I hit you back you can’t even answer the phone,
Boy what’s going on, why are you acting so green
saw you from across the way, smiled at you and said hey, you’re looking crazy, as if you didn’t know me;
baby just make up your mind, ‘cuz it’s killing me!
(Chorus)
Bridge:
Ladies if you feel me say Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah (repeat)
(Chorus)

Disappearing Act

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:
Most magic tricks aren’t quite what they seem, ‘cause here I am surrounded in your heart,
Then “abra cadabra”, you removed me so easily, and broke it all apart.
Pre-Chorus:
Baby I guess that I, had front row seats at the finale and didn’t know IT was me.
Chorus (A):
I can’t hold my breath; this love is through
I fell through your trap door, and feel as if you sawed me in two
You made me your disappearing act, your permanent disappearing act.
Verse 2:
You took my love, and everything I had, and made me the star of your show.
Had me blind-folded every step of the way, and little did I know.
(I didn’t know) that you had tricks up your sleeve, (I didn’t know) that you’d be the one to leave
Baby why this foolishness, I thought tricks were for kids.
You could say that what we had, was mere illusion,
and role that you played, was that of the magician
Pre-Chorus 2:
Baby now I’ve realized, I had front row seats at the finale, and I see IT involved me
Chorus (B):
I can’t hold my breath; this love is through
I fell through your trap door, and feel as if you sawed me in two
You made me your disappearing act, your permanent disappearing act.
I can’t hold my breath; this love is through
I fell through your trap door, and feel as if you sawed me in two
You made me your disappearing act, but you forgot to bring me back.

This is Me

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:
You like my style, my swag, and you’re wondering who I am.
You walked up to me, asking if I had a man.
I’ve got you curious, and wanting more of me,
Straight delirious, steady thinking who is she?
Pre-chorus:
Well, let me make my introduction, I’m something (something), like a hot commodity;
I’m not your average girl, so welcome to my world.
Chorus:
It’s Grace-C, yeah! that’s me, I know you like what you see,
Please believe, that I’ll be, everything that you need,
This is me (who’s that girl), G-R-A-C-E-hyphen-C
This is me, This is me yeah! (Repeat chorus)
Verse 2:
There is no telling, what the two of us could do,
The chemistry, feels so right between me and you.
Guaranteed to have you hypnotized, when you’re looking at me in my eyes
Let’s go baby, I aint no joke baby, and that’s something you already know baby.
(Pre-chorus)
(Chorus)
(Bridge musical break)
(Chorus)

Fly Away

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:
You lie awake, wondering where your life’s about to take you;
There’s no mistake that you’ve held onto your childhood dream.
You’ve always prayed to God for something more, given opportunity at every door,
It’s about time for you to soar.
Pre-chorus:
Spread your wings, and look to the sky
It’s your chance, and your turn to fly.
You can (will) be, everything you’ve always dreamed of,
and everything you know you’re made of
given every blessing from above.
Chorus:
Fly, Fly Away. Fly, Fly Away. Fly, Fly Away from here
Verse 2:
So here’s your life, and all these questions overwhelm you
How? Where? Why? And you’re nervous about what you should do
They call your name now it’s nothing but you at center stage,
and the book of your life’s now turned the page
forcing you into a brand new stage
(Pre-Chorus)
(Chorus)

Only in My Dreams

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:
Took me away, to a place, where would do what lovers do, in total privacy
In ecstasy, you and me, ooooohhhhhhh
Chorus:
Only in my dreams (repeat)
Verse 2:
Now you’re away, because things have changed
We’re fighting, fussing, arguing, and neither wants to stay.
What was once (once), our reality is now my imagination, just my fantasy.
I wish we could go back to what we had, oooooohhhhhhhh
(Chorus)
Bridge:
I will wash this pain away,
With tears I cried yesterday, and I’ll be okay
I know my future will find
The man that’s in my mind, because he’s in my dreams
(Chorus)

Crush

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Taking Back My Love

Written By: Grace-C McGriff

Verse 1:

I may not ever see you again/ that was the thought the crossed through my mind as/
I saw you leaving/ you walked out the door/ and stole everything of mine/
And that’s the scene I replay twice a day.
I know I must be trippin’/ because these tears are still falling/ it’s clear you’ve moved on/so I’ve got to do the same/ because another man is calling/
And I refuse to let this hold me down!

Chorus:

Baby Yeah, it hurts to know/ that what we had is through
But I’m done wasting my time/ trying to get over you/
So I definitely wont cry (no more)/ all tears have been dried (for sure)/
And I’m glad I’ve finally realized/ now I am taking back my Love!
I’m taking back my…I’m taking back my love (4 x’s)

Verse 2:

You know I gave you my heart/ But you didn’t even hold it/
Told me lies from the start/ but you’ll learn, later on, the truth/ once you know that/
The best thing in your life has said goodbye (for good)
But right now I don’t have time/ for all your boyish games /
Because I want to give real love/ to a MAN willing to do the same/
And baby what you couldn’t do for me/ certainly, another WILL!

(Chorus)

Bridge-
If you feel me say woah, woah woah
If you feel me say whoa, Everybody say whoa whoa

(Chorus)
