Lyrics

The Soul of Mary King

Written By: Graeme Montgomery

Verse 1

In 1645, the Black Death was alive, old Edinburgh town was haunted

It was God fearing folk, who prayed as they awoke, to thank the Lord another day they counted

All day the town bell tolled, as the graveyard filled with souls, and the stench of rotten flesh hung all around

A bleak cold winters night, the Close gates were locked tight, a young girl living there was entombed

Chorus

Who’ll dare to walk the stairs, with the soul of Mary King

Who’ll hear the cries of fear, from the soul of Mary King

Verse 2

In squalid dwelling homes, the poor had now’t their own, but open sewers awash with waste and garbage

Deep in their towering flats, alongside flea plagued rats, old and young succumbed to the carnage

The folks who lived nearby, were scared they too would die, and begged the City Fathers to enact

So on that hellish night, these desperate men sealed tight, the Close gates in a silent evil pact

Chorus

Who’ll dare to walk the stairs, with the soul of Mary King

Who’ll hear the cries of fear, from the soul of Mary King

Middle 8

The gruesome legend says, she huddled amidst the dead, till finally she perished in the darkness

Now echoes of her ghost, still chill the haunted Close, where she searches for her doll in tears of sadness

Chorus

Who’ll dare to walk the stairs, with the soul of Mary King

Who’ll hear the cries of fear, from the soul of Mary King

When will the torment end, for an angel in despair

How can we make amends, and send her to heaven’s care
The soul of Mary King
The soul of Mary King

Don't get uptight

Written By: Graeme Montgomery

Verse 1

Cool evening breeze, lonely summer night,
There’s a rainbow in your eyes
Reflections of a dream that never dies, you were an angel walking by
Let me sit and talk with you tonightWe’ll take things easy, it’ll be alright

Chorus 1

Don’t get uptight, now love has landed
Don’t be scared to play, please don’t run away

Verse 2

Feels so strange tonight, my blues have gone, I’m wondering who you are
Like some guiding light, you’ve come along, It’s fate that guides the stars

The night is young and we are free
So let it happen and you will see
A chance for us to reach out and take we’ll touch the stars don’t hesitate

Chorus 2

Don’t get uptight, now love has landed
Don’t be scared to play, please don’t run away

Don’t get uptight, now loves is calling Realign yourself, just resign yourself to me

Someone called

Written By: Graeme Montgomery

Latey you've been acting strange looking like your far away, yeah that's the way it seemed. I stop to think and wonder why, then I start to hurt inside and I cry at what I see

Chorus

Someone called, someone rang did'nt leave a number didnt leave a name.

verse 2

If I'd the time to understand, I might find a better plan, though right now it's to hard to see.

I stop to think and wonder why to figure why loves gone aground and I cry at what I see.

Chorus

Someone called, someone rang didn't leave a number didnt leave a name.

Someone asked for you, someone knew. I told him not to call back and not to bother you

Chorus outro
