Peace & Quiet

Written By: Graham McIntyre

Peace & Quiet

Tranquilitys avoiding me, anxiety takes its place
The search goes, on there has to be, a quiet and peaceful hiding place
Bombarding my 5 senses, I give hope a goodbye kiss
My sixth sense just informed me that there must be more to life than this
Last nights news tried to justify the carnage and the riot
I turned it of and went to bed and prayed for peace and quiet

Under broken promises, the trail of broken bones
Lie silently at peace at last, a few exceptions cast their groans
Tears dripping from their eyes and ears, how many left to shed?
The former fall transparently, the latter fall a dark blood red
For every life lost for our flag, a new one’s found to fly it
I never slept just lay and wept all night for peace and quiet

Point me at this enemy but leave one dream alone
How life would be if, one day, we set two birds free with just one stone

Why deal in deeds of clarity? Confusion never fails
Adding to the decibels the readings just went off the scales
Help me find some peace of mind in the calm before the storm
Dressed up as the only choice in a sober three piece uniform
I leave to join the fray today my conscience can’t deny it
Not a war worth fighting for so much for peace and quiet

I’m told it’s for the greater good but I for one don’t buy it
The shoals of battle weary souls could use some peace and quiet
The shoals of battle weary souls could use some peace and quiet

Birds Without Wings

Written By: Graham McIntyre

Birds Without Wings

The potter smiles and puts another wingless bird upon the shelf
The goatherd rises early, though he swears the goats could herd themselves
The snow bringer tells tales of bringing snow down from the Taurus peaks
All of them aware they share the crumbling empire’s destiny

Up in the old garden the butterfly sings
Watching the potter make birds, without wings
Sorrowful souls, like the time dragging by
Won’t ever learn how to fly
Don’t hope, don’t pray, see what today brings
For the birds without wings

Friendships embrace the differences that shine from faith to faith each day
The robin and the blackbird spin like dervishes to point the way
But freedom creaks beneath the strain of answering the question why
They’re not designed to rise into the golden Anatolian sky

Up in the old garden the butterfly sings
Watching the potter make birds, without wings
Sorrowful souls, like the time dragging by
Won’t ever learn how to fly
Don’t hope, don’t pray, see what today brings
For the birds without wings

What I've Seen (So Far)

What I’ve Seen (So Far)

I keep tellýng myself today ýs the day, things are gonna change
But the fool I am and the fool I’ve been, laugh at me
It’s not lýke i didn’t dream the dream or wish upon a star
Ý just pray to God there’s more to me
Then what I’ve seen so far

Somewhere locked Ýnside a memory, eyes are open wide
As I step out underneath the blackened sky
With nothýng more than pride
Those good old days that never were, well they might have left a scar
I just pray to God theres more to me
Then what I’ve seen so far

I’m in a Dyer need for some right ýntentýon, back up against the wall
Ý guess you never know how close the edge is, ‘týll just before the fall

Slow Down

Written By: Ron Rougeau

Slow Down

Slow down, take a look around
I think we’re losing ground
But there’s solace to be found
In the quiet stillness of the mind

Gigabytes, megabytes, caffeinated electrolytes
Superhighways, supertrains, microchips replacing brains
Video games, endless news, reality shows programme you
To idolise, fantasize, but who’s consuming who?

Slow down, take a look around
I think we’re losing ground
But there’s solace to be found
In the quiet stillness of the mind

Cyberculture picture books, gigavictims, megacrooks
GPS defines my space, who’s looking at your interface?
Do you like it soft or want it hard? Just submit the plastic card
The fix is in, the aim’s to please, facilitating your disease

Slow down, and take a look around
If you think we’re losing ground
There’s solace to be found
In the quiet stillness of the mind

Every second, every minute, at the top of every hour
Banners poppin’, wavin’, flashin’ out subliminal seeds
You’ve got to tune out all the voices eminating from the towers
And break free, can’t you see? We need to slow down

Cell phone hell tones ring all day, incesant chatter pollutes the waves
It’s a waste of multi media time, but you’ve laid laid your money on the line
For Instant mail, instant food, constant war, distant crude
Feed the rich, starve the poor, you say I’ve got mine, now you want your’s

Slow down, take a look around
There’s solace to be found
In the quiet stillness of the mind

Slow down, slow down, slow down
There’s solace to be found
In the quiet stillness of the mind

Slow down, slow down, slow down

Quiet stillness of the mind
