Gramattyk

Gramattyk, born Matthew Smith, is more than your typical hip-hop artist that was raised in the Midwest. Originally from Bloomington Illinois, Gramattyk relocated to Columbia, Missouri to go to school at the University of Missouri to pursue a degree in biology. Despite the temptations to focus solely on his passion for making music, Gramattyk stayed in school and is expected to graduate in the spring of 2015.

In 2006, alongside JayBee, Gramattyk started Frathouse Entertainment a place for unsigned artists to find companionship and support as well as an independent record label and started to take make music together. After that, Gramattyk had been working with friends and acquaintances to further his music career while going to school and playing multiple sports, but In 2009 Gramattyk had to make a decision to attend a mandatory basketball practice or try out for a local talent show; He chose the latter and was benched for the remainder of that basketball season but found that his passion for music kept growing. In 2010 Gramattyk tore his ACL competing in the long jump, which he took as a sign to focus on his music career.

Now that Gramattyk has performed with hip hop legends like Gift of Gab of Blackalicious and rising stars like Machine Gun Kelly, he is preparing to release his first official project on iTunes Efficiency releasing 4/30/14 while still having fun with his music making the Knew Habits videos with Flexy The Artist. Moving forward Gramattyk is working to create a lane for himself in the music industry so that he can bring Frathouse Entertainment into the ranks of the greats.
