Bio
With their mix of funk, rock, blues, hiphop, and Brazilian flare, Grambells brought their genre-busting style to the São Paulo scene in 2013. The quintet's unique sound blends driving danceable grooves, melodic guitar riffs, and rock and rap infused vocals.
The band was created in 2012 when vocalist and songwriter Noah Cook-Dubin left San Francisco to live in São Paulo, where he met bassist and musicologist Fernando Cespedes, guitarist/producer Thom Magalhães, and guitarist Paulo Baião. The four began collaborating and composing together in Baião's tiny apartment, quickly realizing the power their diverse influences brought to the sound. In early 2015, the band's lineup solidified when drummer/percussionist Alex Reis joined the band after a 5 year world tour with Cirque du Soleil, and guitarist Adriano Siqueira returned from a stint in Sweden to replace Baião.
Grambells' diverse musical influences run the gammut from James Brown, Rage Against the Machine, The Meters and Jamiroquai, to Brazilian stars like Tim Maia, Chico Science, and Lenine.
Styles from rock to maracatu come to the fore in the band's debut album, Grambells. The independently produced disc was mixed by Flavio Decaroli Sani (Titãs, Ultraje a Rigor e Bocato).
