"Chicagoist review Sept 09, 2009"

"...their bright indie pop hits the sweet spot time and time again. The band has been performing in its current form for less than a year and gets better each time out, from their epic multi-part harmonies on "Pluto" to the bouncy rock of new single "The End."" - Chicagoist

"Gapers Block Sept 09, 2009"

"The group often brings interesting off-color instruments into the mix--everything from xylophone, to accordion, to melodica--in creating these pristine melodies. If you come by simply because you're curious, you're likely to find yourself dancing in the front row by the end of the show." - Gaper's Block

"Onion July 25, 2009"

"Grammar also crafts a delicate, welcoming vibe, draping the acoustic tunes of Brent Pulse in sparing touches of glockenspiel, keys, and digital sounds, not leaning too hard on either its folk-y side or its electronic side." - The Onion

With influences broader than the shoulders of its hometown of Chicago, Grammar throws more unconventional ingredients into the indie-pop melting pot than Lester Bangs and Bobby Flay on a 4-day ether bender. Born out of a mélange of 4 musicians each dwelling off of their obsessive collection of records spanning soul, hip-hop, post-punk, Brit-pop and funk, Grammar’s glam-rock-on-cough-syrup pop sound incorporates elements from accordions to surf guitars. With Jon Sarmiento and Lizz Kannenberg forming a rhythmic backbone with drums and bass, P. Griffin Baron’s ethereal guitar lines leave perfect space to work around Brent Pulse’s introspective lyrics and acoustic elements.
