Grand Electric - Faking It

Bio

Grand Electric was started by guitar players Ahmed Abdallah, David Hansford, and bassist Lee Griffin, with the ambitious charter, "Let's start a band with two guitars."  Lacking a drummer, Ahmed turned to boyhood friend Dan Gillespie, who "wasn't trying to be in a band," but was persuaded to sit in on a session.  After discovering "these guys aren't terrible" he quickly accepted the offer to come on as full time drummer.  With the electricity firmly in place the group finally tapped A.T. Callan for the role of vocalist.

With Callan onboard Grand Electric enjoyed a number of successful shows at such storied NYC haunts as Piano's, Highline Ballroom, Gramercy Theatre and opened for Kiss & Def Leppard at Jones Beach Theater, with some of these shows being described as "surprisingly good."  The pinnacle of the band's success was the release of the 5 song EP, poorly titled Faking It, whose success has drawn comparisons to the Black Keys, White Stripes, Jimi Hendrix, and Paul Weller.

After a hugely successful 2014, Grand Electric and Callan agreed to part ways due to personal commitments, and after an extensive search, Kara Ali joined the band on vocals and talent. Despite playing a small number of low key shows in 2015, Grand Electric spent most of the year in hot practice studios working on a whole new set of hard hitting and passionate tunes to help make the world a better place. With these now in place, Grand Electric is back and stronger than ever, and with Kara Ali bringing her own face melting style, the band are sure to make the world a far better place in their wake.

When recently asked what drives them to create such hard hitting yet compellingly soulful rock songs, the band responded, "We like playing these songs, and will probably keep playing them until we don't anymore."  And that, in a sentence, is Grand Electric.
