"Cleveland Institute of Art"

"We had Grant on our campus for Week of Welcome. I've been booking comedians for several years and Grant is one of the best I've seen! His humor has a broad appeal which our students loved. It's smart and and easily relatable. It was the funniest show I've seen in years, and he's a great guy to work with too! You really couldn't ask for more." - LeAnn Starlin Galea

"East Bay Express Review"

His material ceases to be mere bong humor and becomes a lot more interesting. A self-professed history nerd, Lyon uses his knowledge of random Wiki-facts to set himself apart from other comedians. It's a fabulous raison d'etre. He makes nods to Woodrow Wilson, Paul Revere, and the bombing of Hiroshima. Some of these jokes are genuinely inspired. - East Bay Express

"Colorado Mile High Comedy Competition"

"It was not easy and to prove it, Grant won by .53 over the Runner Up. One of the most original comedians on the scene, not only will he make you laugh, you might learn something. Congratulations Grant!" - Dave Testroet

"San Francisco Weekly"

"At first glance, we figured the Santa Cruz connection automatically meant that Grant Lyon would be a reactionary weirdo full of jokes about the term "PC." Luckily, we were just being jerks: Lyon is a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers." - San Francisco Weekly

"From America's Top Political Satirist"

"Your stuff was bright and clean and a lot of fun. You were a pleasure to work with and I hope we get to work together again soon." - Will Durst

"Former Live 105! Host"

"In a sea of 'wannabe' street comics and childish toilet humor salesman, it's nice to see someone who is striving to be clever and honest and original." - Johnny Steele

Bio

In addition to being a comedian, Grant Lyon is also an award-winning filmmaker. His short film Interview Date, about a case of mistaken identity where a blind date gets mixed up with a job interview, was one of the few films eligible for a short film Academy Award in 2013. The film has played at over 20 film festivals around the world and won many Best Comedy or Audience Favorite awards. Grant closes each comedy show with Interview Date, making it a night more memorable than most comedy shows!

San Francisco Weekly describes Grant as a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers. A practitioner of sophisticated immaturity, his comedy blends intelligent wit with pure silliness all while maintaining a relaxed surfer-dude personality. A history major in college, his infatuation with this nations past and present stand out throughout his show. Grant is fresh off appearances at NACA National in Charlotte and APCA National in Atlanta.

A former collegiate soccer player with UC Santa Cruz, Grant decided to pursue a career on stage instead of on the field. In 2008, he won the Colorado Mile High Comedy Competition beating out comedians from all over the country. Since then, he has performed at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, the Asheville Comedy Festival in North Carolina, appeared in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition, and has opened for names like Kevin Nealon and Robin Williams. He is a founding member of the sketch comedy group Four In The Back, whose videos have been featured on the home pages of sites like Funny or Die and College Humor. He has appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show and his material is played on Sirius/XM satellite radio. His comedy is clever and honest, a unique combination of social commentary and ridiculous observations.
