Gravesend is a 5 piece band from Brooklyn, NY that mixes genres such as metal, emo & rock. Ever since the band was formed, they have continued to maintain a sound that is distinctly their own. Every new song written completely showcases the band's musical and lyrical, song writing ability.

Biography

Conceived in a district of New York known as Brooklyn, Gravesend distinctly sticks out among the mix of numerous hardcore and metal bands. By combining their influences of emo, hardcore, metal and rock, this 5-piece band creates a sound that is entirely their own. From heartfelt songs such as "Convincing yourself arrows don't hurt" to energetic explosions such as "Let my blood be ink." The band pours everything into their music.

Form in late 2003, Gravesend has been building a steady following by touring the New York and New Jersey areas for the past year. With lead singer Igor fronting the band with his energetic and emotional stage presence, along side lead guitarist John's, out of control guitar style, coupled with Joe, Tom and Brian's brutal assault in the rhythm section, news about Gravesend is spreading rapidly by word of mouth. Learning much from their past experiences and sharing stages with such acts as Biohazard, The Misfits, Candiria, Sworn Enemy and E-Town Concrete, the band continues to grow musically and mentally, preparing for whatever is thrown at them.

In 2004, Gravesend will be releasing their debut EP titled "Portrait of a Dying Dream" which fully embodies the bands strong song writing ability. The band continues to tour in support of the new album gaining an even larger following then already obtained. Gravesend is now ready to face the world and embrace everything that comes their way.

Lyrics

Convincing Yourself Arrows Dont Hurt

Written By: Gravesend

so you left me in a forest torn with no arms and no legs
to die with half a tired heartbeat in my chest
but tell the wolves to go home i'll still find a way to crawl

silence

i can't breathe filled my lungs i swallowed to many words i'm
drowning fast walking slow your victim's fit for a side show

i know

so you left me in a forest torn with no arms and no legs
to die with half a tired heartbeat in my chest
but tell the wolves to go home i'll still find a way to crawl

from deep in this hole how wonderful you seem the worse the silence i hear though i could not get up these walls you sure looked beautiful from down here

so clear

so you left me in a forest torn with no arms and no legs
to die with half a tired heartbeat in my chest
but tell the wolves to go home i'll still find a way to crawl

steady flatlines make best silence....
resonant inconsistant
half empty hearts make for great nests....
the smoke fills the night another time
got this act down to a science....(and we communicate)
the sum of things left me limbless....
to lipless, wanting satellites

amputied still crawling forward
on a white noised canvas black
soliloquies sing broken notes
i hope you're proud to know that

so you left me in a forest torn with no arms and no legs
to die with half a tired heartbeat in my chest
but tell the wolves to go home i'll still find a way to crawl
