"Where Yat magazine CD Review of "Naissance""

The highly anticipated premiere of local funktronica virtuosos Gravity A resonates with an exceptional artistry that is nothing short of their illustrious live shows. Their instrumental mastery manifests the complexity and uniqueness of their overall sound, while their youth renders their fresh and supple take on impressive genre fusions often only attempted via advanced computer music technology. The vitality these local 20-somethings have to offer to the ever expanding NOLA music community is both uncanny and intriguing, exemplified clearly by this album. The title track , passionate and gently, demonstrates the group;s ability to capture raw emotion in a slow and soulful ballad, and is then followed by the inescapably dance-provoking "Watching Myself Walk," with bouncy syncopation and funk appeal to boot. These two tracks, especially when heard in succession, mark the unsuppressed and voluminous talents of this impressive quartet. Also certainly notable, "requiem" features a guest saxophonist whose velvety melody compliments the group's soft, but poignant tone on the track. Boasting a musical repertoire this intoxicating, Gravity A's unbeatably energetic sound will make you think twice about just where that warm buzz is coming from. -Carolyn Heneghan - Carolyn Heneghan

"Gravity A: Spring Tour & Jazz Fest"

Gravity A will be performing this spring in a south east city near you. Nominated for Best Electronica Act (Best of The Big Easy Awards), the New Orleans-based quartet will be appearing twice with U.K. producer, Bonobo, in addition to a few other TBA surprises. After five years of dedicated work, two devastating hurricanes, and one tour bus that has brought the band more financial debt than they bargained for, Gravity A plans to make this their best tour yet. Atlanta-based dubstep producer, Uprise, will be featured on a handful of dates and will be joined by GravA drummer, Michael Fouquier (a collaboration that delivered a head turning performance earlier this year as support for Winter Circle Production's Starkey at One Eyed Jacks during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, 2/12/10). - Jambase.com

Bio

Nominated 2010 Best of the Big Easy Awards
Developing out of a city that is inundated with musical vibrations, Gravity A exhilarates New Orleans' rich musical tapestry with their fresh, dynamic energy and innovative sound. This five years old quartet is inspired by the soulful jazz expressions and second-line fusions of their hometown, yet still draws heavily upon the eclectic possibilities of electronic progressions. Gravity A has become the torchbearer for the city's late night soundtrack featuring the unmistakable sound of true New Orleans funk, tight drum n' bass breaks and intoxicating trance. The band's unique sound is highly dependent upon the musicians' passion for live instrumentation and improvisation, which often lends itself to a rambunctious adventure grooving through sunrise. As opposed to Newton's well-known gravity b, Gravity A has taken their name from the force responsible for the cohesion and semblance of all subatomic matter. At a Gravity A show in New Orleans or beyond, this force is intense and irrefutable. The dance floor is transformed into a frenzy as the polar vibrations of Gravity A's magnetic rhythms and far-reaching frequencies resonate amongst the bopping feet, shaking hips, and smiling faces.
