"Gravity CD Review"

“…totally impressed with their flawless and unique set. The sound was quite different then most
Florida Rock bands, which is a plus. They have a mix of influences that can only be summed up as
Alternative Rock, to be politically correct, with a style and grace all their own - no comparisons here! …Each song on this disc is as impressive as the people who make up the band GRAVITY”
- Rivot Rag Magazine

"Bayfest Battle of the Bands"

“…showing a sound and versatility all their own, GRAVITY beat out hundreds of bands to win our Bayfest Battle of the Bands for the privilege to play at Bayfest with Sugar Ray, Hootie and the Blowfish, and more.” - More TV32

"Gravity CD Review"

While this Tampa four-piece wears several discernible sonic inspirations on its collective sleeve, its alt-rock sound as a whole can be both original and engaging. The syncopated drums, danceable up-front bass melodies, effect-laden guitars and flamboyant vocals recall -- for this listener, at least -- a host of immediately post-New Romantic modern-rock groups (Simple Minds, The Church, Red Ryder) that the band's members probably don't even consider influences. At the same time, there's a muscular arena-alternative vibe that marries rhythm and hook like a more adventurous Live. The whole package comes off as quite contemporary, however, and both the performances and production are impeccable. It's interesting to note that the disc gets heavier as it progresses, but the best thing that can be said about it is that Gravity is carving out its own niche within the current rock spectrum, and doing it well. - Weekly Planet

"Gravity CD Review"

Your call: Are they impressive because they are so massive and majestic? Or are they so stirring
because their hard-edged material covers so much musical territory? Either way we hand out thanks
to producer Wes Price for mixing in plenty of crunchy flourishes for this melodic metal-pop band,
borrowing tatters of grungy riffage and Van Halenish bombast for their persuasive debut. Nothing
too difficult or intrusive here: The Dead Sea's tunes are formed around modest hooks and inventive
middle eights, the guitars (and there are thousands of 'em) alternately chime or roar given the tunes
incline, the solos are searing and succinct, with the vocals on time, in tune and understood. It's
difficult not to utter the word "retro" here because no one crafts a meaningful hard rock sound
currently. Unless your still listening to Cheap Trick, or dig the loudest portions of what Live,
Days of the New, or Creed are up to(and what, that's like four songs between 'em, right?),
you'll find The Dead Sea's music wholly original. - Focus Magazine

Bio

In an environment where many rock bands try to sound like whatever “alternative”
radio is playing at that moment, Gravity defies definition. Drawing upon decades
of the finest rock influences, they have managed to create a sound that is true to
its roots yet completely unique.

Gravity’s lineup, finalized in August of 2002, consists of four immensely talented
musicians - Brendan O’Connell on guitar, Curtis Baden on bass, Ric Singleton on drums
and Jason Shinholser on vocals. Each bring something different yet equally valuable to the table. Brendan can command a room with the dexterity and emotion of his guitar-playing, complemented perfectly by Jay’s angelic yet ragged vocals. Curtis imparts an aspect of funk to the mix with pervasive and complex bass lines, while Ric fills out the sound with skillful, explosive rhythms. All four actively contribute to the songwriting process.

The sound of Gravity hovers somewhere between raw and precise, old and new,
trippy and powerful, at once full of unadulterated feeling and practiced restraint. They
are dedicated to writing and recording original music that is, for lack of a more concise
description, a thoughtful, harmonic wall of sound. Currently playing venues around Florida, they are concentrating on further defining their sound, building an even larger fan base, and finding the means to deliver their music to discerning rock fans everywhere.
