Still working on that hot first release.

Greane, a Portuguese-Irish native born New-England singer-songwriter, spent most of his childhood dressing up like Mozart, donning colonial clothes and wigs, writing songs before he could even write words. Like many young men of his generation, Greane grew up mostly fatherless. Raised primarily by his mother, he was surrounded by strong feminist women including his grandmother who was a painter and 1940s Rosie The Riveter prototype.  Though his upbringing was staunchly working class, music and art became his solace.

Greane's music is a paradigm for the modern man, who walks the tightrope between gender roles, performing a daily balancing act between his masculine and feminine sides. Carving a place in society for sensitivity, compassion, understanding, and humanitarian ideals, his songs explore finding your true colors, working class social issues, gender equity, corporate takeovers, and the trials of fatherhood, creative expression, identity, and love.  His music is an ode to a different kind of 99 percent. the 99 percent of people who do things everyday to make the lives of those around them better, yet whose small acts of courage and kindness are a heroism often overlooked in our society.

Currently Greane is finishing up his debut CD Nouveau and seeking to imbue the world he meets everyday with his love for life and humanity. Nouveau is a contemporary folk album exploring the boundaries of hope, identity, acceptance, compassion and honesty. I envision a world where people can show their true colors without dividing lines between races and cultures, where they can live in hope while experiencing fairness and equality in class, color, and gender. I believe we can get there one person at a time by realizing our commonalities as people, hearing each others personal stories, and practicing listening and empathizing on a daily basis.

The album features acclaimed singer-songwriter Magdalen Hsu-Li on Hammond organ and piano who he has shared the stage with at countless venues such as the The Multicultural Theater Space in Kitchener Ontario, Boston College, Hampshire College, University of Massachusetts Lowell, McCormick Place in Chicago, Il, All Asia Caf in Cambridge, Ma, and Unity College to name a few.  Nouveau also features Seattle drummer Eric Eagle (Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Wayne Horvitz), bassist Paul Kemmish (Rockin Teenage Combo), violist & violinist Eyvind Kang (The Decembrists, John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Laura Viers) and was recorded by Mell Dettmer of Soli Studios (The Cave Singers). In addition to touring with Magdalen Hsu-Li, Greane has also performed with New York City drummer Scott Morehouse, Joey Lott, and Berklee Alums Justin Oliver, Carrie Jahde at numerous Campus Activities Board, Womens Studies, Womens Center, Multicultural Affairs, Orientation, and Welcome Week college events as well as at various clubs, festivals, coffeehouses, markets and art galleries.

Each track has a different personality and purpose, says Greane about Nouveaus lineup of songs. Songs like Flower, and Alone portray the pathos of coming of age in the modern world, the bittersweet loss of childhood innocence in the reality of growing up, and the wisdom and riches that are gained thereby.

Gone Astray, inspired by a tragic shooting in a Seattle cafe, is a life preserver for those who feel lost at sea in a world often senseless and confusing in its everyday violence.  Ironically upbeat, this song praises the value of the little gifts in life we forget everyday.

On Your Own & Maybe are songs that celebrate individuality, identity, and the idea that every single human being has a special gift and unlimited potential to unlock and forge their destiny by utilizing that gift.

Greane will be on tour this Summer/Fall 2013 & Winter/Spring/Summer 2014.  Check the tour schedule for upcoming tour dates. In addition to performances at clubs, coffeehouses, festivals, performing arts centers, churches, galleries, and house concerts, he currently offers a performance/storytelling/lecture program for colleges and universities entitled  True Colours Exploring Identity Concert and Storytelling
