Ladies & gentlemen, meet Greedy Green! Don’t let the name fool you, there’s nothing “greedy” about this guy. He’s one of the most humble people I’ve met in the AZ rap game. I met him at TUR Presents UpNext Volume 3 at Joe’s Grotto in Phoenix (that’s actually where I meet and network with a lot of AZ artists). Originally from Colorado but rapping out of Tucson, AZ, Greedy is an upcoming force to be reckoned with. He’s got razor sharp, fast flows but it’s not nonsense content, everything he says has a purpose. His stage energy and presence is felt and he has a very energetic set. He won the UpNext Volume 3 showcase in August and shortly thereafter proved that he was not going anywhere soon when he also represented the TUR: Best of UpNext on September 22nd. This young kat is focused and determined to win. He doesn’t carry himself like most people his age, he just turned 21 (Happy Birthday btw!) but judging by his demeanor I would have thought he was 31. He carries himself professionally and he doesn’t brag or boast flamboyantly the way I would if I had his skill set. He’s unique and has something fresher to offer than your average AZ rap fare. Watch out for Greedy Green and his upcoming release, The Smokers Section (date TBA)! He’s definitely Soy Sauce Certified!

Biography
Greedy Green, Derrick Matthews, is a young, talented emcee
at young age has created quite a buzz in the Southwest. He has
won over audiences with his energized stage performance and has captured their
imagination with versatile lyrics full of substance and truth. In addition to
establishing a fan base in three states, Greedy has proven through many performances
in many venues, he can draw in a crowd. Greedy Green's style is a mix of
original hip hop with urban poetry including a wide range of entertaining
