The Greenbelt has played over 150 shows, with four cross continental tours, and one international, this year making stops at Halifax Pop Explosion, and a showcase for the West Coast Music Awards. Last year's Illuminaries Festival in Vancouver, the internationally renowned 10th annual Queeruption, and the international Music Festival, POP Montreal.
This Spring, the group is releasing an e.p, “Community Affair', this 6 track recording finds Greenbelt taking up many themes, laying a foundation for the group's dynamic pop sound. This is the follow up to their first full-length album, 'Our Homes', which was released in the spring of 2007. “Our Homes,” spent many months in 2007-2008 within the Earshot Charts.
The group has also been involved in releasing 2 bi-annual compilations showcasing the works of various Canadian musicians. The group works within the community promoting local independent artists, and even releases and supports their projects.
Regardless of the particular configuration they assume at any given show, the songwriting harvests sentiments and political conversations dealing with issues of environmental, romantic and political psyche. Overall, the attitude and performances of the group generate positivity en masse, leading to a warm welcome, wherever they find themselves.
