Bio

The Green Eyed Brother

Green Eyed Brother was born Stephonse’ R. Cleghorn in Abilene, Texas to Belinda Oliver & Glenn D. Cleghorn. He was their only child together. He was called the “Green Eyed Boy” as a child growing up. As matured he later took on the name “Green Eyed Brother.

At the age of 14 Green Eyed Brother began to build his reputation as a local dee-jay by accepting jobs doing house parties & minor events. He quickly made a name for himself by performing tricks on a pair of Technics 1200 turntables. He then started making beats on his Roland 808 drum machine. He was then recruited by a local rap group called “Cold As Ice” which included Rene’ “Dj Little” Ortiz, Ronnie Ware & Tony “Tony T.” Castillo. The group was short lived due to personality conflicts.

Green Eyed Brother graduated from Abilene High School in 1989. He later enlisted into the United States Army & served a short term. After discharged, he began to write poems. Soon the poems became numerous. Music had always been a part of the brother’s life so he began making beats again. A local producer by the name of Rodney “The Bird” Brooks of City Bird Entertainment recruited The Brother to scout talent. He helped Mr. Brooks build a roster of over 15 acts. He later had thoughts of branching off & starting his own Label.

In 1999, he along with the help of some up & coming artists began work on a compilation entitled “West Texas Underground” & created After Hours Entertainment. The compilation would later end up having 21 tracks. In 2000 “West Texas Underground” was released on the underground level. There were 1000 copies printed up & only an estimated 675 were sold. Most of the sales resulted from sales on the street & concert sales. The local retail stores only carried a few copies due to the fact that we were not as well recognized as some of the other local groups. West Texas Underground received airplay for 4 songs from Abilene’s only Hip Hop radio show on Star 106 Fm hosted by Chris “C-Dogg” Flores. In addition receiving airplay the local newspaper, Abilene Reporter News, wrote an article on local black entertainers. The Green Eyed Brother was chosen to be interviewed.

In 2002, The Brother once again compiled a compilation of local artists. This time the title of the compilation would be called “Money Makers”. The Brother recruited several artists. Some were on the previous compilation.
In 2004,The Brother searched for a producer that would give him that sound he was looking for. He searched high & low but only one had the sound. Eric “Smidi” Smith also known to many as “Smidi” was chosen as the main producer for the project. Smidi had produced tracks used by Spice 1, Leon Haywood, 5 Star, New Birth, Anthony Hawkins & more was the perfect choice. We chose Smidi based on his musical talent. Knowledge of his production credits were not known until months later. Smidi who resides in Las Vegas can be quoted by saying “Do The Damn Thang”. So, The Green Eyed Brother put his mind & heart into every song.

The Green Eyed Brother has submitted songs to various radio stations & independent labels for airplay & a chance to appear on an upcoming release. We are versatile & have collaborated with artists who represent positive vibes, Christian rap, hardcore rap, hip hop, R n B, & other styles. Some of those artists we have collaborated are:
