Bio
I grew up in a large musical family in Detroit, MI. My dad was a singer, my mom was a critic, and my uncles taught me how to play the guitar. I was a street performer in New Orleans from a young age, played all over in the nineties, and have been gigging regularly since I moved to Atlanta in the early aughts.
When I was living in Athens, my friends
and I would record talk shows and skits on portable tape decks. In
Chicago, I recorded on reel to reels and alarm clocks, and my first
multitrack tapes were made on a four track tape machine I got in
Detroit. I leveraged these modest beginnings to find work in Atlanta,
first as a session player, then as a sound engineer and audio
producer.
A few years ago, I took serious
injuries to my hands that made it hard for me to play guitar. So, I
programmed all my music into samplers and sequencers and began
performing with electronic beats. In the process, I made a feedback
loop where I take a simple idea, edit it to add complexity, and learn
how to play it on guitar. Now, my live shows and records use
programming, session musicians, audio production, and guitar playing
to get my musical ideas across.
