"Heinrichs and more to wish Bob Marley a very happy birthday… in concert"

Posted on 30. Dec, 2009 by thederosh in News
We’re already looking ahead to shows in January and February, and one that will surely garner attention in the weeks ahead is the annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash on February 6. Yes, Bob Marley was born in February. (He would be 65 in 2010.) Not a very tropical time of year, but then, he was born in Jamaica, and is it ever not tropical there? It likely won’t feel tropical in Springfield that night, but several local (and even some non-local) bands inspired by Marley’s music will gather at The Ugly Mug Live Music Tavern for an all-ages show celebrating the birth of the man whose tunes gave birth to a movement.
The show’s lineup includes Josh Heinrichs & The Soul Riddim Band, Cas Haley & Woodbelly, The Seed and Dallas, Texas group The Green Seeds, which is a pretty solid quartet of reggae and reggae-influenced acts from the region. Heinrichs and company, of course, have performed seemingly everywhere in 2009, from Springfield to live television in Chicago to even Hawaii. Haley and his group Woodbelly are favorite collaborators of Heinrichs, having done a favorites album together earlier in the year. The Seed has kept a low profile since Chillfest in September, playing only very occasionally, but this will put them back in a larger spotlight. The Green Seeds are a fairly young band, but already carry a distinctive, drum-heavy sound. Together, they should make a diverse, fun mixture of acts to pay tribute to one of reggae’s kings. Cover charge hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ll get you that info as soon as it’s available. - Thefourfour.com

Bio

Green Seeds began as basically a jam session between former drummer Robert and Singer/Guitarist Matt. Pretty soon afterward they began looking for a bass player. Jason soon answered the call and Green Seeds was formed in early march 2009.

In the beginning of October 2009, the band came to a mutual decision to replace Robert with there current drummer Matt Denegre. Currently Green Seeds is performing locally while working on original material and hoping to record at the end of this year.
