Tulsa World (FH Edition), Page ETZ1 of EASTSIDE COMMUNITY WORLD

Their sound is so diverse that most people would not be able to pinpoint where their influences originated.

Imagine Curtis Mayfield, Sly and the Family Stone, the Dave Matthews Band, Phish and hard core `Punk` music mixed
all in one. GREEN VIEW CIRCLE, a Tulsa based group, attempts to bring all those sounds together. The band is named after a street where one of the members was raised and a salute to a friend who committed suicide. Despite the loss, the band is moving forward and it's Tulsa's best kept secret. GREEN VIEW CIRCLE members are Dustin Storm, Cartwright, Carlos De Leon and Tony De Leon.

Storm, the lead vocalist, songwriter and guitar player for the band has formed his own production company called Mr. Pitiful Productions, which is named after an Otis Redding Song.

The band has played in Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Austin, Garden City, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

They intend to distribute their music themselves because the album will have so many different sounds on it.

There are a lot of really talented and artistic people in Tulsa and the community is really supportive of original
music, but there are so few clubs for them to play,` Storm said.`Clubs keep opening and closing almost weekly it seems.

The target audience will have to be people who love all kinds of music, Storm continued.

`I listen to old blues, Motown, modern rock and Billie Holiday,` Storm said. `We don't want to repeat ourselves by sounding the same in every song. We're looking for an audience that wants something a little more
creative than what they're used to. - Nikkisha Walker

Bio

I'm a sucker for a great voice. When it's attached to a great band...so much the better. Green View Circle, from Tulsa, provide avid listeners with the complete package: great vocals (lead and back-up), intelligent catchy lyrics and music that ranges from gentle to stand up and take notice. Toe tapping might be an out of date expression, but I find my foot swinging or my fingers drumming each time I listen.

The bands' influences are vast and varied. With some bands this leads to a muddled and unclear sound. Fortunately this is not the case on "Supercharged Fascinations and the Fabric of Space". Lead singer Dustin Storm and lead guitarist Cartwright list the fantastic Jeff Mangum and his Neutral Milk Hotel project as a favored listen, while the rhythm section made up of the DeLeon brothers, Carlos & Tony, cite punk and alternative rock favorites the Pixies and NOFX. Pull them all together and you have a great merging of sounds, textures and levels of intensity. It's the intensity that makes this album so memorable. You don't have to be loud to be intense. These songs won't make your eardrums bleed, but your heart might.
