Biography

"these guys have got some serious songs and a fantastic contemporary edge to what they do. Points for anyone who has heard of EST, it reminds me of them….epic." Kev Jones, Communion co-founder.

"A real atmosphere to it.","New found friends" - Neil Cowley Trio.

Greenwich Tea Party make music together. They love imperfect pianos scratchy, finger-picked guitars, shuffling drums, chest-warming bass, singing together as four male voices and the occasional explosion of sound. Most of all they love playing together. Their self-released EP is a record of the band's sound as it is now and the upcoming album will stay true to the sound of four musicians doing what they love the most.

Tog

Written By: Jacob Mangaliso Berry

Standing, in the middle, of the whirlwind that took you from home
Standing in the eye, watching everybody die
Watch it tear down all the trees there, all the streets will be ripping up the sewers
See the houses, stone and mortar, when the tide rises, crumbled in the water.

And picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go

Watch your bones grow, bwhite and bending, watch your hair grow long, shooting to an ending
Watch the nest break, broken egg shells, in a rose bush the thorns outlive its petals
And try not, to forget me, to lose me, in your memory
As far as I know, there’ll only be one, then we’ll be gone, then we’ll be gone

And picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go

Watch the rainfall, on your window, watch the tears of God, coming to crescendo
Watch the bluebirds, beaten downwards, watch the wings fold, falling to the earthworms
Watch the soil grow, blood as water, a fertilizer, flowing in the gutter
Watch the earth turn, you’re dying body, into something new, breathing life and falling
Watch the waves churn, eating chalk stone, let it fill the ocean, these white rocks will drift home
Feel the sunshine, the root of all this, when the bottom line is asleep behind our eyelids.

And picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go
picture there’s just nowhere else to go

Bread & Honey

Written By: Jacob Mangaliso Berry

To be born a hundred years before today
Would I stand so tall, what would I be called.
How would I see you, how would I think
Would I know about the little creatures swimming in my drink

And it feels as though I’m holding on to a place I never knew
Another line, drawn over mine, splitting me in two.

I grew up and learned to use these tools
Tools to make some money, just to make some money
I was sent away each day to school
With my bread and honey, to learn to make some money
Surely there is somewhere out there other than this
A place where people spend their lives and never think of this
I wish they’d taught me to find the beauty in all things
And take what I do in the face of everything
So I say

This place is not for you, get away
This place is not for you

One day I hope to marry a girl
Build a home to live in, love and raise our children
But I don’t want them to waste time in this world
Fighting for possessions, fighting for possessions
So I say

This place is not for you, get away
This place is not for you

If they were born a hundred years before today
What would be their problems, I hope its fairy tales and goblins

But it feels as though I’m holding on to a place I never knew
Another line drawn over mine, splitting me in two.
