--Paul Abella - Chicago Jazz Magazine

Bio

Greg Duncan put together the best rising stars on the Chicago Jazz scene to form an original group that provides an outlet for original composition, exploratory improvisation and the pursuit of high art with an eclectic, accessible ear grabbing beat. Sean McCluskey (keys), Patrick Mulcahy (bass), Mikel Avery (drums), and Rob Haight (saxophones) bring a wide range of influences and expertise. The band members bring to the group an outside interest of other genres such as Celtic music, Heavy Metal, Ska, and of course Jazz to make the quintet a synergistic phenomenon. This band is jazz with a definite edge.

They recently recorded their debut CD (“Unveiled”) on the prestigious OA2 record label. Unveiled has received extensive radio play throughout the country and also received high praise from Chicago Jazz Magazine. The group's first promotional tour is planned for the near future.

Duncan came to Chicago in 2003 by way of Washington State and Texas. Prior to forming his own jazz group, he toured the United States and Japan with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and was a featured soloist in addition to composing and arranging for the band. He earned his Masters Degree in Music from the well respected University of North Texas in 2001 and has studied with several top named jazz trumpet artists. Duncan plays regularly with his quintet in addition to weekly gigs at the historic Green Mill with the Swingshift Orchestra.
