Bio

Greg Fleming is often referred to as a pioneer of alt country in New Zealand. One of his first gigs was supporting Texan legend Townes Van Zandt in 1990, afterwards Van Zandt took him aside and told him “don’t ever stop writing” and invited him up on stage the next night. Greg didn’t stop writing and the critically acclaimed albums Ghosts Are White and Taken (2010) bear out Van Zandt's belief.

The release of the new album "Edge of the City" in 2012 sees Greg reforming The Trains who he first worked with in the late 80s. “We all worked really hard on this record. I lost count of the number of songs we threw out. The songs on this one draw from a deep well.
It was meant to take two weeks but ended up taking two years. Every song had to earn its place.”

Edge of the City was recorded at Neil Finn’s (Crowded House) Roundhead Studios in Auckland and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Andrew Mendelson in Nashville.
