BandCountryFolk

true country music like that familiar in the 70's and 80's... lyrics with real guts, real life and real stories

Biography

hyperactivity and a.d.d. have been my blessing, in that my mind/eyes/body are together one giant sponge and from this sponge i am blessed to squeeze out all of the feelings consumed from heartbreak, love, divorce, and rediscovering life and hope. my music somehow unforcefully stirs your soul and your emotions. not just force-fed country-fried lyrics but stories that make sense. it is country music that i have been around my entire life and the one vehicle that i most understand and the one way that i can most expose my inner emotions. look out here we come!

Lyrics

son-of-a-gun

Written By: gregory wyatt

my mama was a dope smoker
daddy was a gun toter'
im just a son of a gun (hey, hey)

oh, oh, oh, oh
just a singin' this song
oh, oh, oh, oh
to everyone
oh, oh, oh, oh
o o o oh
son of a gun
son of a gun

girlfriend got a baby due
dreams that never will come true
this lifes a hell of a deal (baby)
the world is working overtime
never making one dime
thats why i'd rather steal
(repeat chorus)

he was my hero
he was just never around
i ended up just like him
with a boy that don't know his daddy
cause his daddy is on the run
hey, he, he, he's just

oh, oh, oh, oh
he's just a singing my song
oh, oh, oh, oh
to everyone
oh, oh, oh, oh
o o o oh
son of a gun
son of a gun
son, son, son of a gun ( hey, yeah )

don't cry for me

Written By: gregory wyatt

he laid his head
there on the ground
after the shots were fired
he never heard a sound
he felt the hand
of another man
it was his new found best friend
on that old foreign land
and as his sergeant started to cry
that young man
said with a sigh
chorus:
dont cry for me
oh, cant you see
i believe in peace, love, goodness and this country
oh dont you cry
no, not for i
of all of the things that this whole world needs
just stop
look around and you'll see
you dont cry for me
ooh, ooh, ooh, dont cry for me

he just looked out
among the crowd
after the nails were nailed and after his crown
he was'nt just some man
sent upon the land
he was here to tell his story
so that folks would understand
and as the angels started to cry
he just looked up
and said with his eyes
(repeat chorus)

well, im not a profit
i'm just a man
whose been blessed to write songs
when he don understand whats goin' on
in the world
as you listen to this song
i hope your voice will be heard
but if you listen and a tear comes
to your eye
hold back
and thank all those who've died
mmm mmm mmm

and ( repeat chorus)

sunday night

Written By: gregory wyatt

well it sure got hot
on friday
got a whole lot hotter
on saturday's eve
and it sure was sweet
on sunday mornin'
but it all went to hell
all went to hell
by sunday night
(chorus:)
on sunday night i was cryin like a baby
on sunday night i never went to sleep
on sunday night my arms were empty
and it all went to hell all went to hell on sunday night

man i saw your friend
swayin' with her on the dance floor
if he's your friend
you better get involved
if your ol' friend see's sunday mornin'
he'll be in hell he'll be in hell
by sunday night
(chorus 2:)
on sunday night he'll be cryin like a baby
on sunday night he'll never go to sleep
on sunday night his arms will be empty
and he'll be in hell, he'll be in hell by sunday night

ma'am i saw your son
lookin' at her like candy
your poor boy
he'll never be the same
o' say a prayer on sunday mornin'
cause he'll be in hell, he'll be in hell
he'll be in hey hey hell
he'll be in hell, he'll be in hell
by sunday night ( mmm mmm )
by sunday night, o' sunday night
hey sunday night

take me home

Written By: greogry wyatt

sign in a coffee shop
say's i've just been found
i'm free to a good home
please write my number down
oh, you
can call me what you want
i'll be
your protection, companion
your confidant

chorus 1:
please take me home
oh, i've been
so alone
never ask for much
or ever let you down
i cant show you the world
but i can take you through this town
oh, please, please take me home
uhm please
please take me home

the bar light says were closed
but she's still a sittin' down
she keeps pourin' out her heart
to anyone who can be found
oh, she
she's been there since six oclock
and she
she don't know how
how to stop

chorus 2:
please take me home
oh, i've been
so alone
my problems go away
when the bottle comes around
somehow night falls
then my soul begins to drown
oh please, please take me home
uhm please
please take me home

now he's been a needin' that home
since his bones have slowed down
his children are all grown
they've got lives in other towns
oh, he
he's been a sad man ever since his wife
and she
she let go at the age of
eighty-five

chorus 3:
please take me home
oh, i've been
so alone
seen enough of this world
and i've had a great life
but i really miss my girl
and i wanna be with my wife
oh please, please take me home
uhm please,
oh please,
please, hey wont you please
please
take me home
home sweet home
oh, please take me
home
