Just a Better Day

Written By: Greg Scott

Verse 1) Walking through the mall on a snowy Christmas eve,
Dreamin of the holidays, and gifts I might receive
Bells ringin, people singin, wishing me Gods speed,
And as far as I could see, there was nothing more I need

Verse 2) So I walked up to the kettles, to put some money down,
But before I did, I stopped … and looked around,
To make sure all were watchin, to make sure all could see,
Just how much I was giving, and how wonderful of me………………….

Music interlude

(spoken, this line only) but then I heard a ladys voice asking…….

Chorus) Could you make a difference, in a strangers life,
Then simply turn around and walk away……
No waitin round or sudden stops, for thank yous or photo ops,
Just knowin that you’ve helped someone , to just a better day…….

Verse 3) I left the mall that day, with a very guilty heart,
Thought I knew it all, but now I didn’t know where to start,
I slipped on some ice, and hit the ground,
Now I could only wonder, …..how soon I could be found………

(spoken this line only) but then I heard that voice again,

Verse 4) It was the lady from the kettles in the mall,
She smiled and said, it looks like you’ve had yourself a fall,
With a blanket and some kind words, she said it won’t be long,
But when help arrived, I looked around to thank her…………………….she was gone , oh…. She was gone,

Chorus) Could you make a difference, in a strangers life,
Then simply turn around and walk away……
No waitin round or sudden stops, for thank yous or photo ops,
Just knowin that you’ve helped someone , to just a better day…….

Much Better Hands

Much Better Hands greg scott

Verse 1) When you lose someone you really love, someone that you hold dear,
You know you can’t hold their hand, you just wish that they were near,
Smile and think of days gone by, then look toward the sky,
Take a moment to talk to God, try understand why………………

Verse 2) That there comes a time in your life, when you gotta let someone go,
You hope they understand, you hope that they will know,
That a future in this world, just wasn’t in their plans,
But as far as I can see, they’re now in much better hands

Chorus; Much Better Hands, give me strength Lord, to help me through this day,
Better Hands, give me courage Lord, just to help me say….goodbye…..goodbye
Better Hands, give me hope Lord, to start each day renewed,
Better Hands, remember in this life, we’re all just passing through……..

Verse 3) But in your minds this picture book of faded memories,
With sights and sounds of laughter , from days that used to be,
It’s your own special album, you can open anytime,
When your day seems kinda useless, and words are hard to find

Chorus; Much Better Hands, give me strength Lord, to help me through this day,
Better Hands, give me courage Lord, just to help me say….goodbye…..goodbye
Better Hands, give me hope Lord, to start each day renewed,
Better Hands, remember in this life, we’re all just passing through……..

Bridge: Its ok to laugh again, its ok to smile…………..
But it’s gonna take some time, it might take a while,
To see that the sun comes up and goes back down each day,
Just take the time to breathe, take the time to pray………………

Chorus; Much Better Hands, give me strength Lord, to help me through this day,
Better Hands, give me courage Lord, just to help me say….goodbye…..goodbye
Better Hands, give me hope Lord, to start each day renewed,
Better Hands, remember in this life, we’re all just passing through……..

Just Outside of Bethlehem

Written By: Greg Scott

Just Outside of Bethlehem Greg Scott

Verse) Ive never been a man of God, no brimstone and fire,
My goals in life were simple, just get rich and then retire,
I prayed on occasion….. read a verse or two,
But the good book took too long to read, and I had too much work to do……….

Verse) I worked in an office, nearly an hour or so away
From my wife and kids, and our beautiful home, back in Bethlehem PA
Ive driven that old road from work, I’ll bet a million times,
But on this stormy night of Christmas Eve, I just didn’t see the signs……………..

Alone without my phone………

Chorus ) On the road, just outside of Bethlehem,
Those road closed signs were meant………for everyone but me,
If I didn’t die alone, I only pray I’ll be born again,
Stranded on this cold and lonely road, just outside of Bethlehem…………

Verse) With a windchill of 10 below, I got ready to spend the night,
But I awoke from a troubled sleep, to a strange yet calming light,
I looked through the frosted glass , to see 3 men walking by,
I asked where are you going, and they just pointed to the sky…

Verse) They said we heard that a child of God was born here today,
We’ve come bearing the gift of life, from a land so far away,
The eastern star we’re following, is a sign for all to see
A reminder that God’s love is with you, wherever you may be………

Chorus) Even on the road, just outside of Bethlehem,
Where the angels sIng alleluia, and the believers cry amen,
On a night not fit for man nor beast, you know you’ve been born again,
Stranded and abandoned on the road………. just outside of Bethlehem……

Verse) I woke up again, from a pounding on the door,
A fireman with a flashlight, said you’re the man, we’re looking for,
Buried in a snowdrift, he said, what a lucky man you are,
we just followed 3 sets of footprints, right up to your car……………

Chorus) On a road, just outside of Bethlehem,
Where the angels sang alleluia, and believers cried amen…..
Now I know that with Gods love , I’ll never be alone,
Even on a cold and lonely road,
Just outside of Bethlehem,

Just outside of Bethlehem…………………………amen

Simpler Times and Happy Days

Simpler Times and Happy Days Greg Scott

V1 Spendin time in Lindenwood Park, on a hot summer July day,
Walked by a diamond ,so I thought I”d stop, to watch some little kids play…………………..a game of baseball,
Oh, they couldn’t have been 10 years old…………..
But they were spittin seeds and scratchin stuff, talkin trash, yea talkin tough,
And I just had to smile……………… man , its been a while….

Goin back to;
C Simpler times and happy days, walkin to school uphill both ways,
Had a black and white 3 channel with nothing on, (nothing on)
No gps, no dvds , no Taco Johns, no Mickey D’s,
And the only happy meals we had, momma made at home

V2 I had a nickels worth of Mantle cards, stuck in my spokes, and my handlebars,
Were butterfly………………..man my bike was cool…..
It had a banana seat and sissy bar,
I had GI Joes and Matchbox cars, and marbles I could trade,
Thought I had it made

But we were doin things in school back then, that today kids are afraid to do,
Like sayin the pledge, prayin to God, and merry Christmas too……………

But that was back in;
C Simpler times and happy days, walkin to school uphill both ways,
Had a black and white 3 channel with nothing on (nothin on)
We had rotary phones and party lines,
And a gallon of gas 34.9,
Full service with a smile…………man thats been a while

Bridge; I remember, Mantle, Mays, and Killebrew,
Ernie Banks and Rod Carew
The Beatles back in 64, Carol Burnette and Gary Moore
Woodstock, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash
Jimmy Dean and Big Bad John, Sonny and Cher the Beat goes on and on and on and on…(keep repeating, fade away) ……………………….

V3 Then a sudden dose of reality, when a foul ball landed right in front of me,
But I was lost in 50 years, and a hundred miles away,
So I picked up the ball with the seams all worn, it was really dirty and the cover torn,
From the field I heard the call……hey mister throw us the ball……..

Threw a 2 bouncer back to the mound, with my patented curve ball grip,
I smiled and thanked the Lord for this day, and I thanked the kids for the trip….

(spoken) who says you can never go back?

Went home to;
C Simpler times and happy days,
Walkin to school uphill both ways,
Had a black and white 3 channel with nothing on,
No gps, no dvds, no Taco Johns, no Mickey D’s,
And the only happy meals we had, momma made at home.
