Greg Stott

BandJazzFunk

Playing jazz fused with blues, funk and styles from around the globe, the Greg Stott band features some of Australia's best contemporary musicians with a refined compositional sensibility and the capacity for burning extended improvisations.

Biography

I am an Australian guitarist and composer whose style is a mixture of jazz, blues and funk. I am influenced and inspired by the great jazz improvisers, regardless of instrument, over the last 100 years, but I also love soul, r&b and the funky sounds of artists like James Brown, Tower of Power and The Meters.

While you will primarily find me playing electric guitar, I also enjoy collaborating with classical and flamenco musicians, performing on acoustic guitars that I have built myself (a hobby of mine).

I have been fortunate enough to perform with a diverse range of great Australian musicians and groups including James Morrison, The Idea of North, Venetta Fields, Jon English, classical guitarists Tim Kain (Guitar Trek) & Antony Field (Saffire), The Canberra Symphony Pops Orchestra, the RMC Big Band, Steve Amosa, Tuchasoul, Hayley Jensen, Brendan Clarke, Mike Price, Eric Ajaye, Miroslav Bukovsky, the late Gery Scott, Elana Stone, Craig Schneider, Steve Allen, James Valentine, Craig Scott, Tim Strong (USA), Ra Khahn (UK) and many others.
