Bio

About a week ago I was walking by the White House on the other side was a protestor's booth. This booth usually plays music but it however doesn't usually play mine. But on this particular day they were blasting “What are We Gonna Do”, a pessimistic look at the troubled youth of America, through their role models, the school system, and drug dealers. The fast passed acoustic guitar rhythms might remind some people of a galloping horse at a local dance club and with the harmonica added adds a melody reminiscent of a faster paced acoustic Bob Dylan tune. More so than less folk musicians inspire me from the likes of Woody Guthrie and the Carter Family to Bob Dylan and Joan Baez both lyrically and musically. A Baltimore band called animal collective also have some inspiration in live performances and lyrically, they put on full steam ahead shows and get the audience involved in a big way I believe that is the most successful way to get people to remember you, by involving them. I have collaborated with people in the recent time to get a different feel to my songs lyrically most notable on a song called “Milkman and Guitar” a song inspired by a Toni Morrison book. Usually my writing process involves news articles, overheard conversations, and thoughts of my own but never have I been inspired by a work of fiction to write a song so this was an interesting thing to do. Recently I have been inspired by the likes of Jimmie Rodgers (of the 1930's) he is considered by many the “Father of Country Music.” Currently I hand draw all my album covers and t-shirts and all my web design. For only playing live for a year I have covered some turf playing all over the DC area in places like The Red and The Black, IOTA club and café in Arlington, VA Tiffany Tavern in Alexandria and TT Reynolds to name a few places, selling CD s and making fans and friends. I currently live in Gainesville, VA For more information on CD's, Shows, and T-shirts don't hesitate the information is at the top of the page and I look forward to hearing from you.
