The best kept secret in music
Press
"Count songwriter Greg Ziesemer among the bluegrass musicians who have a special affinity for songs about highways, trains, and hobos...and his originals, especially "The National Road," have what it takes to become Hoosier classics." - Evan West, Indianapolis Monthly
""Lightning strikes, if you stand still long enough," a line from "Blind Side Love," was wrought from the prolific pen of Greg Ziesemer, frontman for one of the best bands ever to emerge from the vital Indianapolis music scene, The Spud Puppies.
Greg has a real gift for incorporating a catchy turn of phrase into the innovative melodic framework that this band provides. In the aforementioned example, images from the natural world, here as seemingly mundane as the weather, are used to illustrate the power that someone can wield over us when love chooses you.
"The National Road," arguably the most obvious choice for radio airplay, is another example of Ziesemer's ability to write a song you can see. Anyone who has ever succumbed to wanderlust will recognize the portrait he has painted." - Cary Allen Fields, for Bluegrass Now
"Baptism of Fire succeeds in blending Ziesemer's own musical legacy of bluegrass, jam band sounds, and traditional rock into a collection of earthy, spiritual songs that most bluegrass and alt-country fans would enjoy. Ziesemer's voice lies somewhere in that Arlo Guthrie range...there's little to criticize about this collection." - Steve Hayes, Indianapolis Music.Net
"I just love Greg's new CD...been wearin' it out!!! It is a great CD for summer...or really anytime, I guess...excellent...well worth the purchase!" - Ann McWiliams, City of Music Radio Hour
"..."Blind Side Love" and the wanderlusting "The National Road," are quite tuneful and indelibly memorable...Based on these sonic barkings, it won't be long before these pups become the big dogs and own every fire hydrant in town." - Dan Willging, Dirty Linen, February-March 2005, Issue 116

Bio
A singer/songwriter and 20+ year veteran of the central Indiana music community, Greg writes and performs a storybook of life experiences, and tells fireside tales that teach lessons and present an optimistic view of the past, present and future. His timeless guitar technique provides the perfect backdrop for his storyteller style, ranging from energetic and passionate to soft-spoken and wistful.
In Greg's own unique fashion, he mirrors great songwriters such as Woody Guthrie, Bill Monroe, Steve Goodman, and Paul Simon as he tells his own signature tales of historical marvels and tragedies, treasures from his own past, deep reflections, and celebrations of love and life.
Whether you are seated stageside for a live performance or settled in listening at home, you can sense a familiarity in Greg's music that depicts the same roads we travel each day.
