Bio
Grenouille is born in Modena, the city of Ferrari, where Tom Ozzy, a very talented singer from Ivory Coast and the keyboarder/pianist Lorenzo Marinelli met each other on March 2006. The urgency of writing songs is paramount from the beginning so they release their first self-produced EP on October. The songs are acoustic guitar and piano based and the lyrics are half “betè” and half French. After a troubled period, their music is discovered by Micheal Pergolani and Renato Marengo. It is May 2007: they are interviewed on the popular radio programme “Demo – the talent-buster” broadcasted on RADIO 1 RAI. Two tracks hit the target: “Ne pleure pas” and “Le Roi Intelligent”. From that moment they feel that the line-up has to be completed. On June two fine musicians join the group: the percussionist Andrea Ferrari and the bassist Gianluca Raimondi. The following month they win together Best Voice Award at Lamezia Demofest , an important national music competition organized by RADIO 1 RAI and the promoter Ruggero Pegna. The charismatic tone of Tom’s voice, minimal piano riffs and world-rhythms mark out the sound of Grenouille. The group play before a 10.000 people! Then they are invited to Paris: Robert Brazza, the popular radio anchorman interview them on his programme “Africa Song” broadcasted on the international network AFRICA N1. Year 2007 ends with a promise: to get bigger and play a lot of gigs! On January they come back to RAI studios to record Grenouille’s first live concert. The performance is so extraordinary that they decide to edit a videoclip principally focused on a brand new song dedicated to Tom’s native country: “Le Grand Jour”. Actually they are involved in a big national music contest called “Italia Wave Band 2008”.
