Bio

In early 2000, feeling as though they had what it takes to get serious, guitarist/vocalist Matt Boehm, bassist Kevin Chapman, and drummer Scott Schneider laid the ground work for what is today known as "Grey Haven" in a rural Texas town called Hallettsville. By the summer of 2002, the band, then known as “Alchemy”, relocated to Austin, Texas. Over the next year, the band played countless shows as a power trio, fine tuning their music and amassing a loyal following. In the spring of 2003 the band met guitarist Trey Ybarbo and made the decision to move from a power trio to a four-piece ensemble. This move not only enhanced their live sound, but also greatly added to the creative flow of the group. Based on the direction the band was heading, they believed it was in their best interest to change their name. Drawing from what they felt their music expressed, the band decided upon “Grey Haven”. The median of darkness and light, a limbo of sorts, where the line between dreams and reality merge to form one; this is where their music resides and from this they draw their inspiration. With all the players in place, the new and improved GREY HAVEN took the stage. The results were phenomenal. With a more solid sound and much stronger stage presence, the band decided it was time to release an album. Grey Haven went into the studio and recorded their self-titled ten-track debut album, which was independently released in March of 2004. The album met rave reviews, solidifying GREY HAVEN’s spot among the top bands in the Austin, Texas hard rock scene. The album’s success led to GREY HAVEN’s summer 2005 Texas tour, introducing many new fans to the band’s unique style of song writing. Their music, which has formulated into an explosive brand of hard rock with soulful lyrics, is reminiscent of the days when rock was truly an art form and garnered the mass with its evocative and emotional meanings. In 2006, fueled by the previous year’s success, Grey Haven ventured to Los Angeles, California to further their career in the music industry. Currently the band is touring California, gaining both regional and international notice. They have recently signed with Customer Concierge Rights Engine (CCRE) of Tokyo, Japan and are in the process of writing their sophomore release.
