Greywolf

Greywolf has released the debut single, “Exit Key”, from his forthcoming Operation Wolf album, due out in Fall 2020. Greywolf, aka Jay Grey, plays bass for rising powerhouse band Escaper, but “Exit Key” is a sample of what this multi-instrumentalist can do on his own.

The track is haunting and beautiful, with lyrics that evoke themes of love, loss, and wanting to make a change. The track opens with a droning synth, before dropping into the love story lyrics. It is a song with prescient themes for these times: reaching a breaking point and wanting to make change. It also recounts a love story.

Greywolf recorded and played all the instruments on this record in his home studio, which include piano, synth, keys, guitar, bass and beat programming. The record as a whole addresses change, longing and one’s personal connection with nature and the universe. There is something of an autobiographical feel and personal touch to the music and the album. Jay Grey is best known for his work with the band Escaper, but has branched off to deliver a sound all his own.
