Bio

Grids began as a shared musical interest in rhythmic experimentation between John Law (guitar) and Sean McKee (bass), following the demise of their former band Burn Planetarium in 2010. After over a year of what could only be called unfocussed and infrequent writing sessions, they had ideas they felt were interesting, but were going nowhere. They sought Joseph Landau (guitar) of Formalists for his prowess on the fret board and in Super Smash Bros. The ideas took on a bit more form, but given the emphasis on rhythmic intricacies, it became clear that they needed a drummer. Mike Lee (drums), Sean’s friend and former roommate, was asked to join for a practice. There was an immediate cohesion formed between both the members and the songs. It was apparent that this is what they had been missing. Incorporating dissonance and noise with melodic hooks, and erratic transitions with pop sensibility, Grids’ music aims to keep you on your toes even while your toes are tapping. Grids is planning to release a debut EP in early 2013.
