""LMNOP" Review"

Grief's released the LMNOP EP as a preview to his upcoming mixtape release, Weed and Coffee. The title track, "LMNOP" is a gritty-street record with some bounce, which makes it great riding music but also plays well in the club. The concept of the song, literally going through each letter of the alphabet recounting the ABCs of a hustler's lifestyle with Grief going A thru K, Razor on the hook doing L through P and finally Brisco ending the alphabet. Lyrically, "LMNOP" is savvy and original and with the dark quality of the Razor-produced beat, the song is almost sinister and definitely unforgettable.

The rest of the EP gives us a taste of what we can expect from Grief's anticipated Weed and Coffee mixtape. "Whip Game Proper" featuring Razor gives us more of Grief's signature street-goon style and flow. "Luv Da $" with Rena, "I'm Da Shit" and "Get'M Off" are all worthy tracks that establish Grief as a legitimate voice in the streets of Miami.

Bio

Grief

From the moment you hear his voice you'll feel his sinister presence that is so accurately described by his moniker. His lyrics complement his spine tingling sound as he gives his take on the struggle, the hustle, and the come up. Born of a single mother who often worked two jobs to make ends meet, Grief spent most of his idle time growing up in the streets of Miami, Florida's inner city. Hard times have been all too familiar to Grief, starting with his first in counter with grieving as he watched his uncle's murder at the tender age of 5.

Music has always been a factor in Grief's life, in junior high school he was the first seat trumpet player. In addition to the trumpet Grief also plays numerous other brass and woodwind instruments and it's this influence that can be heard throughout all of Grief's music. In 2001 Grief co-produced several records as a silent member of local rap act "Dark Half". The group went on to release the "Catastrophe" album for which Grief also co-produced several records alongside Razor (the group's lead producer). Grief toured with DH for several years opening for acts such as 2 Live Crew, Ying Yang Twins, G-Unit, Trina, B.G., Hot-Boys, and Trick Daddy until the their unfortunate split in 2005. Now Grief is returning, teamed up with Razor once again with the goal of "making classic music" as Grief says. The lead single is entitled "LMNOP feat. Brisco & Razor" and is already making major noise all throughout Dade County. Other notable features include JT Money on "All I Know",
and Billy Blue on "One More High", setting the stage for his debut EP "Weed & Coffee" that is sure to go down as one of the best from this side of the gun-shine state.
