GRINDSTONE

If you ask most people that know Grindstone, they might have said it was over for the band when there drummer left in the summer of 2009, but for Grindstone, it was only a blessing in disguise and an opportunity to start over. Grindstone is a whole different animal now, becoming a four piece with an extra thrashing guitar and a machine timed drummer Adam Pett. With a steady fan base, and one that is growing rapidly, Grindstone was not ready to call it quits. In a matter of four months they regrouped the band with some instrumental switches and added one extra member, Barry Pett. This, as the band would say, was the beginning of their success.

A few months before the break up of Grindstone, they released an emotion filled album, entitled “Seed’s of Paranoia”. The personal experiences of lead singer Jeff Copoc, captures feelings of depression, suicide, anger and even love. Their single “Seed’s of Paranoia”, reveals an experience in Copoc’s life when someone close to him was dealing with paranoid thoughts and illusions. Interestingly this put a great twist on the album. The video for “Overcome” the second single off their album is currently being shot. Overcome takes you deep into the mind of a young man battling with feelings of suicide due to being bullied and feeling neglected. The band has sold over 1000 copies of the album “Seed’s of Paranoia” and sold out their CD release show back in April of 2009. This attracted a crowd of 640. Jeff Copoc, 19, will continue to express his feelings through music and plans on turning every song into a story.

“I write songs about experiences and about feelings because everyone, at some point in their life, can relate to almost every song on the album” Jeff Copoc.

As the band grows and matures as a unit they will continue to write songs that inspire individuals. The band recently tried a new style and taste for Grindstone, by writing a song that makes people want to get up and jump! “Jump” the single off their in the works album, “Against the evening sky” is about going to the bar, meeting a girl... I think you can guess the rest! Grindstone also mentioned that they will stay just as loyal to their fans as they stay to them.

“As much as we know we cannot make an album exactly like “Seed’s of Paranoia”, we are going to stick to our roots and will continue to write music that Grindstone wants to write and music that Grindstone fans want to hear” Grindstone.

Grindstone, an up and coming indie band, has had a lot of success. They have played venues such as The Opera house, The El Mocambo, The Rock n Roll Heaven in Toronto and get daily radio play on 88.3 CJIQ and 98.9 The Drive (Kingston) rock radio stations. They will have an interview and live acoustic set video on 98.9 The Drive on November 28th that will be available to watch on myspace and youtube. Grindstone can really rock a live show and are fun energetic crowd pleasers for any venue. Grindstone plans to continue their journey as a band, learning life lessons and awaiting to see what the world of rock has to offer.
