Bio
I have learned to love rock music retroactively. For some reason I would only listen to funk music growing up. After my initial infatuation with Queen and Kiss, I became a Kurtis Blow, Lakeside, Heatwave, Fatback- lovin slice of whitebread, that set up an early respect in awe of Prince. MY first concert was Kiss. I was in 4th grade. I formed my first band then- Zodiac. Sang "Beth" in the 4th grade talent show. I remember rocking out to Devil Went Down to Georgia just before discovering the RHCP's. They turned me on to the guitar. That was 1983. Safe to say I was in Lubbock, TX., all alone as their #1 fan.
John Paul was the local guitar wizard even back then. He had hair to his waist- skinny kid and his fingers could fly. They have a hyperspace button now and a cloaking device. He is the kind of talent no person can steal. He has grown into his own sound, style, and form of simplicity. He grew up first on country, and then the evil powers of Rock and Roll took him over for many years. If he is still possessed, I look the other way but that would explain quite a bit. Now we are both Ry Cooder- John Hiatt-Dead head- AC/DC- Grover Washington- Replacements-Townes Van Zandt- ( we love all good music ) and are influenced more by our own lives than anything, I honestly think. We are neither misogynist, prejudice, or politically incorrect, but some of our music is. After all, JP is mexican and I am often mistaken for a large Jamaican Woman. I think it is probably just the basket on my head that throws people. All I know is, I am one good looking son of a bitch- no offense mom.
