GRIT was formed in November 2002 by founding members Mike "LT" Potesta, Trevor "Tito" Greene, "Crazy Mike" Carlson, and Drew Nelson. The band started as a quartet with Tito on vocals, LT on guitar. Mike on bass, and Drew on drums After several shows the band decided to shake things up and moved Tito to bass and Mike to Rhythm guitar, thus giving GRIT the full heavy sound you hear today. In December of 2004, after over a year of auditions, the band added vocalist James Conley to the lineup. Since then, GRIT has performed all over Northern Illinois and won several Battle of the Band contests including the HEADLINER COMPETITION at Austin's Saloon. Today the band is part of 95 WIIL Rock's BANDEMONIUM 2006 Contest. Out of 69 bands from the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area, 10 were voted by listeners into this contest. GRIT finished third in the voting and along with 7 other bands, has advanced to the second round of this exciting contest.
