Gritty

Raised in the country town of Oxford North Carolina listening to the Temptations, Donald Byrd and The Rolling Stones, he was able to fine tune the craft of being soulful. Watching his family struggle and work hard for the majority of his life, that was fuel he needed to overcome adversity. Gritty discovered at a young age he had a passion for entertaining by performing every weekend at a venue called his living room. The support and reaction from family and friends made him want to fine tune the one thing that burned in his soul, music. Listening to Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, and Rakim, at age twelve found his first love Hip-Hop. Listening to the greats, Gritty found himself jumping in head first emerging himself in Hip-Hop and never turning back. In 1996 he started a rap group called Dynamic Mental producing several tracks in a make shift studio in a back room. His partner in crime at the time was World One now known as Bunky SA who was a part of the La Bella Mafia and now with Maxx Out Records. Dynamic Mental broke up when it was time for Gritty to join the US Army. Gritty quickly found out that the Army was a playground to reach people all over the world. Gritty performed in such places as South Korea, Germany, and the Philippines, just to name a few. In his lifetime he was able open shows for people from all over the world, like international recording artist Redsan from Kenya as well as a person called Nameless from Kenya. With those artists being the highest paid artist in east Africa, Gritty was able to perform for some of the largest crowds a venue could offer. In 2005 Gritty released his first solo debut called When The Grit Gets Gritty Which is now an underground classic in Kansas City. Gritty released that album under the label Dreamtree Productions. At the same time as the album release Gritty was a part of a band named Ghosta Nota. They played places from St. Louis to Connecticut. With going through so much Gritty is ready to emerge as a leading character in todays industry of entertainment. Now with starting his own label, Grit Lyfe Entertainment will be a rising brand to watch.
