The best kept secret in music

"Review of debut album, Stitch"

"...throw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix on this highly experimental exercise. In the main, it's blips and bleats, blended with more conventional instruments and textures including banjos!"

Rating: Eight out of ten stars - Hot Press Magazine

Stitch is the debut album by Groom. It's available for downloading at An EP of remixes, called The Wave And Groom EP, has also been released on SeedyR Records: go to for details. SeedyR has also released an mp3-only album of live acoustic recordings, called The Sutton Sessions.

Feeling a bit camera shy

What defines Groom? Well, smarts and alternative taste, for a start. Stripey wool shirts. Cracked vocals. Too many pairs of glasses. Banjos, fuzz guitars, washy keyboards and loops. Oh and nerdy conversations about the latest software gizmos while listening to Liam's latest dance mixes as well as The Postal Service, The Notwist, Howe Gelb, Ben Folds, Lemon Jelly and the Magnetic Fields.

Mike and Wil were founding members of seminal Irish indie band Settler, who had three releases on Fairview House records before disbanding. Settler toured extensively in Ireland and also the USA, making time along the way to record with Barry Phipps of The Coctails in Chicago. Groom is a departure from the easy-going alternative guitar sounds of Settler. Liam Dunne, a prominent dance musician in Dublin's vibrant electronic scene, brings a whole new set of textures to the mix, and Brian O'Higgins completes the set up with his rhythmic rock drumming. It's exciting stuff.
