Bio

Groove Philharmonic is the result of my personal journey as a jazz and classically- trained violinist. Having performed (since 1992) in South America, Europe, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Africa as well as New York and Los Angeles, California, I've developed my concept of a chamber jazz philharmonic. My experience with various ensembles, music styles, and cultures has inspired my vision for a culturally diverse jazz orchestra that highlights the beauty of jazz spoken through non-traditional (jazz) instrumentation. My influences range from great teachers and musicians such as Rodney Whitaker, Wynton Marsalis, Billy Childs, Daniel Shindarov, Charles Boles, James Newton, Dr. William Withem, among many other jazz and classical artists, both living and deceased. What sets us apart from other groups is our cultural diversity and instrumentation. Also, our group is sensitive to string players' unique experience in jazz performance. My background as a violinist, pianist, composer, arranger, and conductor has enhanced my ability to balance the unique needs of classical players with those of jazz players as well.
