Groove Pocket

BandRockFunk

Groove-Oriented rock band with melodic vocals, and hard hitting lyrics.

Biography

What do you get when you throw a bit of Sublime, mixed with a little Phish, and add a splash of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but with Lemmy from Motorhead on the vocals? Groove Pocket!!!

Groove Pocket is a groove-oriented rock band that transcends all age groups and musical tastes. GP is one of the hardest driving bands on the east coast. They are sponsored nationally by Dirtbag Clothing; and have arrived in the club's radar over the past few years.

After releasing their much anticipated debut album, "Everything's Whatever", in 2004, GP became respected for their blend of strong melodies, solid lyrics, and emotionally charged vocals. "Everything's Whatever" rocks where it should, but also incorporates additional sonic elements including keyboards, strings and world percussion. They certainly display impressive musicianship, memorable lyrics and a whimsical stage presence that have captivated audiences throughout the East Coast and have left their ears filled with more hooks than a tackle box.

Groove Pocket’s touring schedule kept them on the road for more than 150 dates out of the year in 2006. Their website www.groovepocket.com, received well over 100,000 hits this year from all over the US and as far away globally as Japan and Italy. GP is building a devoted fan base well beyond the North East Region and with a mailing list of thousands, there's no sign of letting up.

One of Groove Pocket’s highest achievements came in February of 2006 when the band received the Groove Rock Section Track of the Week award on GarageBand.com’s website. The band also was awarded Best Male Vocals, Best Guitars, Best Drums, Best Bass, Best Lyrics, Best Beat, Best Mood and Grooviest Rhythm by the listeners of the website. Also, in December 2006 the band became a finalist (top 12 out of 160 bands) in the Bodog Music Battle of the Bands competition, for the Philadelphia Region.

Groove Pocket has had the honor of sharing the stage with such acts as, The Baha Men, The Coasters, Fighting Gravity, 2 Skinnee J's, The Ernies (Mojo Records), Sev (Geffen Records), Innasense, and P-One.

2007 looks to be a banner year for Groove Pocket, as they are already booked throughout. The band is currently preparing to begin pre-production on their sophomore album and will be heading back into the studio in the Fall to begin the recording process.

It is often said that music is and should be a live experience, and that an artist's true nature can be determined by its live abilities. When Groove Pocket takes the stage it's quite clear that their incomparable musical abilities make them no ordinary band.

So if you're looking for a great party and a shared feeling of high emotion, follow Groove Pocket to shake and sing all night long.

Lyrics

11:23

Written By: Groove Pocket

Could you send some of that love my way
If we sat and talked a while would you decide to stay
Let’s wash the weight of the world away
Forget our minds get lost in time and feel so fine today

We should know all the good in life is free
I know it’s hard to feel that way
and I know it’s hard to see
So could you send some of that love to me
When it’s humming round your soul you can
hold your destiny

I would like to thank you all for what I have
Cause there’s others worse off than me
And for the rest of my days it remains 11:23

Free fall down below, below
To taste the sweetest frame of mind
I’ll put you in and smear the love across my face
Criss cross on her back again she goes and then
Directions turn due south
We’re rolling green to the extreme
With a little lovin’ all through the night
You’re not right
But you sure are right for me

I would like to thank you all for what I have
Cause there’s others worse off than me
And for the rest of my days it remains 11:23

(Chorus)

5th Letter Better

Written By: Groove Pocket

If you weren’t real girl I would make you up
Hold you up and go down together
But you are here so I will love you strong
Love you hard and go down forever

Ooh I want to make you feel
Like no one’s made you feel before
And when I lay you down
It’ll feel like the first time, first time
And in this haze I am amazed
Amazed by you
I have seen the perfect sky turn black
Turning gray but it’s still perfect
And you have given my drowning heart a breath
When you pulled it up to the surface
Ooh I want to make you feel
Like no one’s made you feel before
And when I lay you down
It’ll feel like the first time, first time
And in this haze I am amazed
Amazed by you

If you weren’t real girl I would make you up
Hold you up and go down together
But you are here so I will love you strong
Love you hard and go down forever

I know they rent the spaces in your head
Lift the lid and you’ll see it’s vacant
And we could analyze life till we’re dead
But here’s my love and a bed to lay in

If you decide that you just might move on
Don’t call and don’t write forever
You’ll still have my liquid in your mouth
Washing down a fifth letter better

I know it seems a tad bit trivial
Maybe visual, cynical
Maybe put our faith in the biblical
But now we’re clinical
And it may be difficult
To hope and wait to see
Just let it be
Let your heart be free with me
Let your heart be free with me
Let your heart be free with

If you weren’t real girl I would make you up

Two M’s and a Silent J

Slip and fall from time to time
But sometimes getting up
Is a little harder than the first time

We’ve questioned everything
Why change or alter this
Might the hour bring a kiss of something sweeter

I know it’s easy
To never be yourself
To run from life to life
But I’m here

I’ve never ever seen the light that lit the way
Like your face that day
Never had a feeling like the feeling (that)
came upon me that day
I’d walk across the water just so I could say
I met you half way
I thought we’d have forever but we turned around in separate ways instead
And it felt like it got colder on that day

It seems I lost my head again
But sometimes holdin on is just the same as
Holdin in

I know it’s crazy
Just take a little time
To sit back and unwind our heads

(Chorus)

We could move the mountains
Fly away from this or start a new day
With a kiss of warm sunshine
Beating in our hearts and on our minds
We won’t be thinking anymore of past times
Or of things to come
We’ll live each day a life
And dance and love until it all is gone
Will it really matter five years from this day

(Chorus)

Sweetest Days

Written By: Groove Pocket

She doesn’t know just where fits into this
I think she thinks too much some times
and now it’s
It’s time to go again
I feel it’s always time to go again but I
I wanna stay here

I’ve asked you time and time again
Why do you walk the line in fear of falling
So come and dance with me a while
Throughout the night until the day is calling

So let the raindrops dance upon your face love
Splash in the puddles with the clouds above us
You look so beautiful
You always look so beautiful and I
I’m gonna love you

We’ll go lay down upon the lawn
And all our deadlines they’ll lie dead and buried
So let me hold you for a while
And we’ll stay here till we’re good and ready
I saw it coming ooh from just so far away
We stayed and wished for better days
I know it takes all types to make the world go round
We get up to just fall down again

I saw it coming ooh from just so far away
We stayed and wished for better days
I know it takes all types to make the world go round
We get up to just fall down again

Junk Drawer

I look between the shades to see
The rain that pounds the grass beneath
A sky that sheds the tears that fall
I think I can relate

I sit and start to tune this thing
Try to fill the void you bring
And you’re only gone for hours
But I hope you won’t be late
I said I hope you won’t be late

Cause when I woke up yeah I toked up
I looked into the sun and I
Smiled for while
Rich or poor I don’t care
Cause I know that life ain’t fair
I’m gonna throw this drama right on the fire

I look between the shades to see
That no one’s coming home to me
The emptiness grows thick in the air
But you know it ain’t so bad
Cause I’m feeling far from sad
As time stands still I’m unsure I care
I don’t think I fuckin’ care

(Chorus)

And I know that I give it here and you take it there
It’s all I see it’s all I know of you yeah
And it’s plain to see through
these blind eyes of a fool

I look between the shades to see
The rain that pounds the grass beneath
A sky that sheds the tears that fall
I think I can relate
Do you think you can relate

(Chorus)

Stomp

Written By: Groove Pocket

You, you got some clouds in your pockets
Lifting you from my reach to a canapé of dreams
And you’re never coming down again

Why cry or try and stop it
Your fingertips are diamonds on my heart of glass
And you always seem to drop it

You’ll put your foot above my heart
And all you’ll ever do is stomp
You will stomp
You’ll stomp

Seems it can all be rearranged
And honey you don’t know it yet
But you’re the first thing on my list
That I’m gonna change

You need not mold me anymore today
Ole! I’ll never be that
Picture perfect man for your display

(Chorus)

Take Me As I Am

Written By: Groove Pocket

Hear me when I call out to you
See me when I reach out for you
Go ahead and steal me from this spell I’m under
Clear me of the doubts I’ve wondered

But please don’t change me
Oh this I beg of thee
Don’t say you’ll change me just say you’ll

Take me as I am
Take me as I am darlin’
Take me as I am
Take me as I am
As I am

Believe me when I say I love you
Enlighten me when I’m down about you
Go ahead convince me that you’re the only one
Come on just tell me that I’m the only one

But please don’t change me
Oh this I beg of thee
Don’t say you’ll change me just say you’ll

(Chorus)

No, don’t take me away farther
No, settle me in

(Chorus)
