Groovin' Groceries Children's Wellness Adventure is a music-based, interactive wellness program based on the 2010 USDA Food Pyramid recommendations and has been endorsed by pediatric dietitian, Lara Field MS, RD, CPS, LDN. The songs -- co-written by two-time Grammy® award winner, David Blamires and American Songwriter magazine award-winning lyricist, Lori Cook -- include messages about specific food benefits, recommendations, and advocate support for daily exercise. The animated Groovin' Groceries characters and team encourage kids to make healthy choices as well as address temptations and moderation.
"It started when I took my 3-year-old, Nate, to the grocery store," says Cook. "He was already noticing cartoon characters on products and wanting to put them into our cart. I didn't realize it started so early! Then I wondered why there weren't advertisements for healthy foods that would get him equally as excited." Cook's answer? "You get them to listen to something they love. Music. Great music and characters so memorable and beloved, they become a trusted part of the family."
Introducing Groovin' Groceries Children's Wellness Adventure.
Led by a musically driven group of characters that teach kids about healthy lifestyle choices, the Groovin' Groceries program targets kids ages 3 and up (as well as their parents, educators and caretakers). The Groovin' Groceries characters sing and dance their way to lessons about the five basic food groups.
* "Bobby Broccoli and the Hip Hop Crops" (hip hop)
* "Banana Jamma and the Fruity Party" (reggae)
* "Betsy Bread and the Grainiacs" (country)
* "Max Milk and the Disco Dairy" (disco)
* "Fiona Fish and the Lean Machine" (R&B)
And of course, there are temptations addressed by "Junk Food Joe and the Sugar Monster" (blues) who lament the fact that you should only hang out with them some of the time.

There's also a tune about the importance of exercise called "Stinky Shoe -- Peeyew!" (dance) that gets kids plugging their noses and dancing around the room.
In addition to the music CD, the Groovin' Groceries program offers print materials including:
* Groovin' Groceries Sticker Reward Calendar -- kids can track what they eat and apply what they have learned.
* Groovin' Groceries In-Store Scavenger Hunts -- kids look for the "real" versions of the characters in the grocery store.
* Groovin' Groceries Placemat -- kids learn to identify characters, categorize food groups and practice colors and counting. And more!

Lori Grebe Cook -
Co-Writer and Creator of Groovin' Groceries Children's Wellness Adventure. Groovin' Groceries Tunes stems from Loris love of music and the importance she puts on her own familys health. She brings a variety of essential nutrients to this project. She spent 12 years in educational publishing, traveling the US and meeting with educators. She is an award-winning singer/songwriter and is a well-established music producer for national TV commercials at Earhole Studios in Chicago. David Blamires
Co-Writer, Producer, Recording Engineer, Singer for Groovin Groceries songs. Two-time Grammy award winner, Composer for national TV commercials.
Originally known as one of Canadas most versatile and sought after session musicians for 15 years David recorded and toured as the singer/instrumentalist in The Pat Metheny Group. His work with the group earned him two Grammy® awards. His own self-titled worldbeat CD resulted in extensive airplay and sales throughout the US and Canada. David now lives in Chicago where he has been working as a composer for national TV commercials and performing throughout the US and Canada for the past 10 years where his invaluable instincts and skills for composing and songwriting have continued. A key member of the Groovin Groceries Team, David has 3 kids and lives in Oak Park, IL.
