Bio
Formed in late 2004 Groovy lips and the Yang create a unique sound, capturing the essence of contemporary Australian Indigenous roots styled music. It is a blend of Paul Boons didjeridoo, Rob Pascoes guitar and the soulful voice of Clifton Bieundurry that take audiences on a journey through social issues and personal reflections. The use of Kriol and Walmajarri in their lyrics, strengthens the uniqueness of Groovy Lips and the Yang for which they are quickly becoming known for. Walmajarri is a traditional Aboriginal language of the Kimberley and Kriol is a contemporary Aboriginal language of Northern Australia.
The debut self titled album, recorded @ The Broome Music Farm (johnrodwell@westnet.com.au), brings together elements capturing emotive lyrics with sweet layers of guitar, drum and bass on a rolling bed of didjeridoo rythms. While Clifton Bieundurry is a relatively unknown performer in the music industry, Paul Boon has performed with several artists including the John Butler Trio, Jane Rutter, and Slava Grigorian. Rob Pascoe has had extensive experience performing in duos and bands playing covers and his own original music from Geelong to Darwin. He is considered the musical backbone and living ipod of Groovy Lips and the Yang.
