"Hop Jam"

Fresh off the release of its new self-titled album last month, Groucho is ready to jump back into the scene with “homegrown Tulsa indie rock.”
The band, made up of Dustin Howard, Drew Sanchez and Nick Peterson, laid low for the past year as the members recorded and refined the songs that make up the new album. The Hop Jam is their chance to reintroduce themselves.
Formed after a Craigslist post announcing Howard was searching for a band more than two years ago, they all found they clicked well in their influences and their desires for the band.
“No one has a huge ego,” Howard said. “I am a minimalist, so we can expand on it as time goes on.”
The band has also worked to create an air of mystery by performing semi-anonymously.
“The idea is to let the music be the thing,” Howard said. Still, don’t expect a laid-back show. The raucous songs the band is bringing to the stage will push the party all day. - Tulsa World

Self Title (2016)

The Ghost of Cyrus Ramsey (Oct 1, 2020)

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, GROUCHO mixes multiple sub-genres of rock and includes influences that are both old and new. GROUCHO recently finished recording their debut album with Grammy Award winning engineer Trent Bell (Flaming Lips, Starlight Mints).

The self-produced, self-titled debut album was officially released on April 10, 2016.  Tint, GROUCHO is about to
release the follow-up to their self-titled album. The Ghost of Cyrus Ramsey EP will be available October 1 on all streaming platforms. They’ll kick things off with a live show at The Shrine in Tulsa on October 3, alongside Oklahoma-based metallers Fist of Rage. Groucho draws on its member’s shared love of 90s rock, stoner metal, and guitar-heavy music. Their raucous riffs and addictive melodies draw inspiration from bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, and Smashing Pumpkins, among others.

Music writer Ty Clark (formerly of The Tulsa Voice) writes: “An original rock band to watch! Excited to see what Groucho does in the rock genre and in these uncertain times. They’re certainly keeping it real.” After winning the Tulsa World Opening Band Contest for The Hop Jam in 2016, Groucho took a brief hiatus and re-formed in early 2020. Original founder Dustin Howard (vocals, guitar, keys/synth) was the former guitar player for popular touring bands My Solstice and The Bourgeois. For the new EP, Groucho once again worked with Grammy-award winning Trent Bell of Bell Labs in Norman, OK

The band formed to share their ideas, expressed through the medium of music. GROUCHO hopes to provoke thought in a boundless universe, to remind ourselves that we are all brothers and sisters, and to strive for the art of growth. The band has been featured on Mid-West and internet radio stations and is forming a fast-paced growing fan base.
