Bio

Established in 2009 in "Rimon music academy" in Israel, by percussionist Shalev Ne'eman and lead singer Hewan Meshasha, Ground Heights got attention and appreciation for their black rooted music sung in Hebrew, winning 1st place at the famous original music contest "Rock-Rimon".

After performing in various venues and festivals, along with English and Ethiopian songs, the band was named "Ground Heights". Their first single, "Sailing West", with lead vocals by Ne'eman, was chosen as a main track for the "Global Rockstar" international original music collection, associated with the U.N. "High Level Meeting on Youth" and Rio+20 "the future we want" conferences.
Ground Heights were one of the first bands in Israel to have their music on i-tunes.

Their next shows deepened the sound with 3 back-vocal arrangements for the male band members, and featured musicians and singers from the new soul, world and hiphop scenes in Israel.

Widening to new styles of groove: Their "Heeola" single release night was celebrated with Samba-Reggae drum orchestra "Black Samba", and traditional Carrebean and Ethiopian dances.

When chosen for the 2013 "Mad Music" music export conference, Ethiopian dancer Abeba Yosef and sax player Grayevsky, joined the band to complete the picture, mixing with Meshasha's Amaharic singing methods and the band's modern unique sound, to a special act of dance and music.
