"Groundfood, a Montreal-based band formed in 200"

Groundfood, a Montreal-based band formed in 2009 combines elements of Hip-Hop, Afro-Funk, Roots, Soul and Sampling to create a fresh sound that is taking off fast to the delight of fans across the northeast and beyond. You can catch them improvising entire live sets but also hear them at their songwriting best, crafting and reworking ideas that were once off-the-cuff and now a banging new track, organically shaped. Their unique approach and dedication to working with different concepts and collaborators has them doing everything from covering their own remixes live to backing bad-ass MCs live to writing banging hit-you-over-the-head new singles for the underground masses. It’s always a big, phat groove. - The Burlingtone

"FOOD FOR THOUGHT"

Fusing big ol’ nasty beats with simmering soul heat and smooth hip-hop cool, Montréal’s Groundfood are a study in contrast. The sextet is as adept at crafting tight, cohesive pop songs as they are unleashing improvisational fire, making their increasingly renowned live shows both unpredictable and captivating. - Seven Days
