GROUND LEVEL

BandMetalRock

Pulsating, heavy rhythms and infectious melodies are the cornerstone of every Ground Level tune. Fuse this with an energetic and intense live show and you will have hit upon the formula which Ground Level lives by.

Biography

“The stage is where we live” proclaims Leo Gray, guitarist and vocalist of Ground Level, “It’s where the music is definitely meant to be heard”. Leo, along with Scott Leef (drums and vocals), and Jeff Buck (bass and vocals), combine for over 30 years of live performance experience. This collective experience runs the gamut of every musical genre from glam rock to jazz to metal and comes together for one explosive stage show.

It all began in late 2003, Scott Leef, Buck and Leo Gray, came up with the concept of creating a band that could fuse their collective rock and metal influences. The writing began immediately and Ground Level was born. With a mentality of playing shows anywhere and everywhere, the band quickly gained the respect and admiration of fans around Ontario. Balancing time between the stage and the studio, the band released two EP’s in 2004 and a full-length album entitled Trustfire in 2005.

With distribution to major stores across Canada and digital sales around the world, Ground Level has been able to reach a global fan base.

Since forming, Ground Level have successfully inked two clothing sponsorships, worked with some of Toronto’s top booking agents and have had one of their songs included on the soundtrack for the movie The Intercessor, which appeared at the American Film Festival in 2005. The high octane music from Trustfire is constantly being requested for use in other video projects.

For 2006, Ground Level partnered with the Germany-based alcohol company, Jagermeister, to bring even more excitement to the live show. This sponsorship meant bigger and better shows for the band and their fans along with some great giveaways.
The year 2006 also found the band being recognized with a nomination for Best Hard Rock song at the Toronto Independent Music Awards, as well as being asked to open a show for the legendary SKID ROW and KINGS X.

Taking their show on the road, the band continues to assault the stages of Toronto’s biggest venues including The Reverb, The Opera House, Bovine Sex Club, The Revival and Healey’s. Ground Level have also been hitting every venue possible throughout Southwestern Ontario, from Windsor to Ottawa and all points in between.

Constantly writing new material, Ground Level lets the crowd have the final say as new songs are always being tried and tested at each show. No matter what city they are in or what crowd they are playing to, when Ground Level is on stage, they’re right at home.

Lyrics

HOLLOW

Written By: GROUND LEVEL

It was never supposed to be like this
Now you’ve torn it all away
Stripped down and broken
I stay awake

There’s nothing left of who I’m supposed to be
I want you to find me cold and alone
Torn to pieces
Lying on the floor

I just let you take control
Now I know this is how

You’ll feel, You’ll see, What it’s like to be alive inside
You’ll want, you’ll know, What it’s like to be alive inside

The sacrifices I have made
Mean nothing to you at all
I held you in my soul
Then it came crashing down

There’s nothing left of who I’m supposed to be
I want you to find me cold and alone
Torn to pieces
Lying on the floor

I just let you take control
Now I know this is how

You’ll feel, You’ll see, What it’s like to be alive inside
You’ll want, you’ll know, What it’s like to be alive inside

ANOTHER DAY

Written By: GROUND LEVEL

We’ve been here before
With every lie that you told
This would be the last time I’d sacrifice
You knew you’d pay the price
Just forget what you’ve done
And leave it in the past this time

You’re waiting for another day

It’s gone way too far
Now this could be the last time you’re left without
A reason to lie and hide
With every feeling inside
Just forget what you’ve done
And leave your past behind this time

You’re waiting for another day

You swear that you’re gonna change
Don’t leave me waiting for another day
You say you won’t stay the same
Save all of your excuses for another day

You can’t wait for another day
You can’t wait for me to say

You swear that you’re gonna change
Don’t leave me waiting for another day
You say you won’t stay the same
Save all of your excuses for another day

FACELESS

Written By: GROUND LEVEL

I can’t go on feeling its wrong
To let go of this face
It’s hatred of this place
Forget it
It’s over
This final disorder
I won’t let you take me
For all that I could be

Tonight is not what it seems
I can’t forget what I’ve seen in

You ripped away my passion
Power and greed go hand in hand with
You ripped away my facelessness
It doesn’t seem to make a difference to you

I won’t forget to find out what you let
Slip out, fall away
Reach out for today
I can’t see, I won’t hear
The lies you spread near
It’s not right to let me
Take you within me

Tonight is not what it seems
I can’t forget what I’ve seen in

You ripped away my passion
Power and greed go hand in hand with
You ripped away my facelessness
It doesn’t seem to make a difference to you
