Groundskeeper

All the music we love and our lives influence our music. Instead of us describing our sound please listen to our music, and while you do so you can read our story:

Chris Chegia and Alex Woods played together for three years in a progressive/post punk band named Idle Discourse from Chico CA. Upon deciding that they were not breaking enough gear or teeth they moved down to Oakland to start a new much more intense and technical band. Having no drummer or friends that could play drums to their song structures they put up an add on Craig's list. The very first response was from Jordan Sobolew with email containing the simple subject line of "drummer here"

Sobolew from Fresno CA had played in such bands as Ocam's Razor and They Call Me Grey Hound; basically destroying a small farm town and causing rampant teenage pregnancies. Having a wild, unconventional, hard hitting and highly precise sound, Sobolew filled in the missing element of Alex and Chris's fast, technical, abstract and melodically furious songs.

so they all met up in Oakland CA, and after filling their bellies with many pizzas and playing a few rounds of NES these dudes were soon inspired to rock and roll

For day jobs Chris and Alex teach guitar and after school classes in music through a non profit Alex co runs

Jordan is a recording engineer and records all of groundskeeper's music.
