Bio
Growth Spurt are a Leeds based DIY punk band who are set to release their debut EP ‘Relaxing Music for Growing Plants’, following their debut double sided single ‘Bedroom’.
The second track of the EP Sink has already received radio play on BBC Introducing in North Yorkshire and York, where the track was described as “a cacophony of noise”.
The new EP, lasting only around 10 minutes long despite having four tracks, is one that “accounts youth disillusionment, guilt surrounding family life, experimentation with vices and the feeling that your future has been built for you,”- Gus.
“We’re all so angry about how our futures are being pioneered by people who only seem to seek economic growth over all else. This can come through in our music, but we also don’t obsess about it too much, and have some happier more dancey songs.” – Mollie
After the formation of the band two years ago for a Battle of the Bands (when most of the members were only 13), Growth Spurt has gained considerable momentum and the band have played a number of esteemed venues. The EP marks a new point in their life as a band and a movement away from the indie pop of ‘Bedroom’ towards something heavier, and more reminiscent of the majority of their set.
